From the moment we landed, Copenhagen enveloped us with its elegance and vitality. We wandered the city on foot, stopping at bakeries like Lille, and Hart Bageri where the warmth of the oven seemed to echo the warmth of the people and at restaurants like Apollo, Maison, Geranium, Bobe, POPL Burger, and the unforgettable Seks, where hospitality felt like coming home to old friends.
We explored the Noma Projects lab and met Jaakko Mattila, an artist in residence whose pigments come from nature painting with natural pigments, and earth. His work felt like a metaphor for the city itself: organic, grounded, luminous.
At Barr, located in the old Noma space, we had a dinner so fresh and vibrant it lifted our spirits completely. And in the galleries and exhibitions, we found ourselves immersed in a city where creativity is a way of life. You see it in the quiet canals, in the shape of a chair, in a simple slice of rye bread with simple delicious butter.
We spent our days walking by the ocean, breathing in the scent of wild roses, and listening to the Danish sky tell stories with its light. Even Tivoli, with all its playfulness, became a portal to presence for the little ones in our lives.
Copenhagen revealed itself slowly, sensually. And though we were there only a short while, we left with a lingering sense of belonging like a piece of ourselves had always been waiting there.
