What To Plan Now

SPRING BREAK 2026

I know, I know!  Here I am talking about Spring Break 2026.

My boys went to 2 different schools, with 2 different spring break schedules (of course).  Most years I was so busy at work I could not even think about it.

And Sam would just look at me blankly if I even mentioned “Spring Break”.

We all know that “ I understand what you just said, but I am going to pretend I have been suddenly struck deaf” look we get from our spouses when they are not catching the ball we are attempting to throw their way.

And, I did not know a “me” back then.

So some years I waited to the very last minute, and just threw something together because the boys had a gun to my head.  And all the much cooler moms had already planned amazing vacations, with other cool families, and here I was in January trying to get my sh** together for the first week of March.
(You know these Cool Moms, full makeup and a perfect blowout in the car pool line on their way to Pilates.)  I would brush my hair and  put my makeup on in the car AT the office. If I remembered…

So back to Spring Break.

Maybe you missed out on planning last year? Booked too late and got stuck with leftover rooms, inflated prices, and a yucky itinerary?

Or EVEN WORSE, did not even go????

AND spent the week watching The Cool Mom's Cool Spring Break on social media?  And you know your kids are never going to let you forget the damage you did to their poor travel deprived psyche.

Here’s the thing: even though it feels forever away, now is the time to start thinking about where you’ll go.  We already know when, you have had that school calendar for months now.

The good news? You’ve still got a little time. The bad news? Waiting could mean:

❌ Snagging the last room (with a parking lot view)
❌ Paying way more thanks to record setting demand
❌ Fewer options for everything

Read on for a few suggestions that will make those Cool Moms welcome you to the Cool Mom Club.

And to make this happen all you have to do is CALL ME   First name / friend and I will take it from there!
XO, Jackie
SPRING BREAK 2026: ON YOUR RADAR?

Spring Break in Spain

BEYOND BARCELONA

Spain is a fabulous European option for Spring Break. The weather is mild, flowers are beginning to bloom, and the summer crowds haven’t arrived just yet. And beyond Barcelona, you can also consider…

Madrid: I LOVE Madrid. Big-city energy with a local feel? That’s Madrid in a nutshell. Spend the day bouncing between Prado’s masterpieces and leafy parks like El Retiro, then grab a table at a bustling food market where you can eat your way through Spain without running out of dining options.

Seville: Game of Thrones fans, you’ll see the Real Alcázar in real life (yes, it’s even prettier than on screen). But Seville is more than a Hollywood backdrop — it’s a city made for wandering. Tapas that make you question why you ever settled for plain old “appetizers.”

Canary Islands: If “Spring Break” makes you picture crowded Caribbean resorts, the Canary Islands can help rewrite that narrative. Volcanic trails with nobody else in sight, villages that feel frozen in time, and black-sand beaches.
A Sunny Spring Break

SKIP CANCUN

If a sunny beach escape is what you’re after, Mexico’s coastline stretches way beyond Cancun’s mega-resorts. These alternate destinations will make you wonder why you didn’t branch out sooner:

📍 Mérida: Colorful streets, lively markets, and easy access to Mayan ruins make Mérida a great mix of culture and adventure. Spend the morning swimming in a cenote, then tuck into authentic Yucatán dishes at night.

📍 Bacalar: Known as the “Lake of Seven Colors,” Bacalar is “are we in the Maldives?” bliss. Picture yourself paddling across water so blue it doesn’t look real, reading in a hammock over the lagoon, and wondering if you ever actually want to leave.

📍 Puerto Vallarta: A classic for a good reason. Between golden beaches, cobblestone streets, and jungle-draped mountains, Puerto Vallarta has plenty to keep you busy. Watch the sun set over Banderas Bay from the Malecón boardwalk.
Springtime in Japan

CHERRY BLOSSOMS, UNCROWDED
Image item
Cherry blossom season draws huge crowds to Japan every spring, but these three spots are just as magical as the typical Tokyo + Kyoto stops — without the wall-to-wall crowds:

Wakayama: Center your itinerary around temple stays, rugged coastline, and Japan’s tallest waterfall (Nachi Falls). If you’re craving a slower pace and fewer selfie sticks, Wakayama is your spot.

Okinawa: White-sand beaches, neon-blue coral reefs, and an island vibe so laid back you’ll swear you got on the wrong flight and landed in Tahiti. Bonus: it’s one of the first places in Japan to see cherry blossoms. Go ahead, take a peek at Google Images and prepare to be blown away… I'll wait!

Hokkaido: Famous for its skiing and steaming hot springs, Hokkaido also gets the final cherry blossoms of the season. Visit early to hit the slopes or come later to catch blossoms without the crowds. Either way, it’s perfect for travelers who want space to breathe.

If Japan is on your wish list we need to start on this one RIGHT NOW ( yes, I am shouting)
