Hello First name / There

Here in Aiken it has has been like living on the surface of the sun lately….hopefully this week you are somewhere cool with zero humidity!    Most of Aiken moves north in the summer, so many of our friends are in Maine or Saratoga for the summer racing meet.    Me?  I have been busy (indoors with the AC blasting) planning safaris and some incredible European trips for clients.

How about Slovenia?

Unlike the more frequented (mobbed) spots that dominate travel lists, Slovenia offers a blend of natural beauty and cultural richness that's both refreshing and less crowded. Whether you're interested in the outdoors, historical sites, or simply enjoying the food, Slovenia has something to offer every traveler.

P.S  I will be out of the office attending  the Gifted Travel Conference, then on to Tuscany for Sam's “big” birthday celebration.  If you have a trip in mind we need to hop on it, I will not be able to modify or start new trips from September 7- 21, 2026.
P.P.S. I have 2 spots left in our September 2026 Safari to Kenya, so if you have been thinking “ someday” here it is. Details below!

The capital of Slovenia, Ljubljana, is a charming city filled with youthful energy, green spaces, and a wealth of history. Its car-free city center allows visitors to wander freely, exploring the picturesque bridges, the medieval Ljubljana Castle perched atop a hill, and the vibrant marketplaces. The city's cafes and restaurants along the Ljubljanica River offer a taste of local cuisine in a delightful setting. Iconic for its postcard-perfect scenery, Lake Bled is nestled among the Julian Alps. Travel Tips
HOW TO REALLY SEE SLOVENIA
Slovenia is a hidden gem in the heart of Europe, offering a blend of stunning natural landscapes, rich history, and vibrant culture. Here are three pointers to consider as you plan your Slovenian journey:

Sample Local Cuisine: Slovenian cuisine is a  fusion of Italian, Hungarian, Austrian, and Balkan flavors, reflecting its geographic and historical influences. Try traditional dishes such as kranjska klobasa (Carniolan sausage), štruklji (rolled dough with various fillings), and potica (nut roll). Slovenia has an emerging craft beer scene and a long tradition of winemaking, especially in the regions of Primorska and Posavje, which are well worth exploring.

Explore Beyond the Hotspots: While Lake Bled and Ljubljana are must-see
destinations, Slovenia is dotted with hidden gems that often escape the typical tourist radar. Consider visiting the vibrant coastal town of Piran, the stunning caves of Postojna and Škocjan, and the lesser-known but equally beautiful Lake Bohinj. Venturing into the wine regions of Goriška Brda or the historic streets of Ptuj can offer a more authentic and crowd-free experience.

Pro Tip
Combine your visit to  Slovenia with visits to Venice, Istria, and Trieste: Slovenia is adjacent to Italy and Croatia, and its compact size is ideal for touring. Start your journey in Venice, visit all that Slovenia has to offer, continue on to the idyllic Istrian Peninsula in Croatia.

Email me for an itinerary that checks ALL the boxes: fantastic food, gorgeous scenery, historic castles, wine tours, boat excursions and lovely boutique hotels.
