Students cheer and celebrate at last year's Candlelight Ceremony, a highlight of Welcome Week. |
|
Welcome Week begins in less than a week! We can't wait to see you on campus and help you connect with the University and your fellow new students before classes begin. Here's a list of last-minute items to complete before you head to Rochester: ❏ Ensure you're packing right (if you're living on campus). Before you close that last box or suitcase, make sure you've reviewed Residential Life's packing and restricted items list. You'll also want to carefully label your belongings with your name and housing assignment, so the move-in team can help you transport your belongings to your room quickly and easily. ❏ Carefully review your arrival day instructions. Make sure to read over your arrival day (either Monday, August 18 or Tuesday, August 19) instructions, especially the ones that apply to the method of transportation you'll be taking to campus. Reminder: Residential Life check-in and move-in does not begin at your residence hall. If you are living on campus and: - Driving in a rental or personal car: you'll begin your check-in at the Valentine Lot (located along Kendrick Road).
- Being dropped off (by bus, car, taxi, Uber, or Lyft): you'll begin your check-in at the Barbara J. Burger iZone, located at the back of Rush Rhees Library (along Library Road).
❏ Make sure to bring a government-issued ID to campus with you. You'll need some form of official identification to pick up your campus ID card at Welcome Week check-in. If you don't have a passport or driver's license, a high school or secondary school ID card will also be accepted, as long as it includes a recent photo of you. ❏ Don't forget to finish your online orientation program! Make sure you've completed all four components by this Saturday, August 16: - Complete the new student checklist.
- Watch all required resource videos and complete the corresponding modules.
- Register for your fall classes.
- Complete at least one activity to get to know your Orientation Leaders and fellow incoming students.

Don't forget to pick up your textbooks. |
|
One of your required steps on arrival and move-in day is to pick up your textbooks and course materials from the University bookstore in College Town. Now that you've registered for classes in UR Student, Barnes & Noble should email your University email address to confirm that your materials will be available for pick-up. The bookstore is open 10 a.m.-8 p.m. on both Monday, August 18 and Tuesday, August 19. Make sure you've received a confirmation email from UR Essentials that your materials are ready for pick-up before heading over. We encourage you to utilize the University shuttles, as parking at the bookstore is limited. The bookstore is serviced by the Blue Line, which departs every 20 minutes from the back of Rush Rhees Library. The closest stop to the bookstore is the Behind Goler House stop. Please plan at least 1 hour to make the round trip. |

Parents and family members, don't miss out! |
