Ā
We're all judging ourselves against a standard that doesn't even exist.
Ā
This week I had such a unique mix of meetings: a startup CEO, fresh out of a fundraising round and surpassing their revenue goals (šŸ„‡), a few corporate execs, and creative entrepreneurs at very different stages.
Ā
On paper? Wildly different.Ā
In reality? The same theme kept coming up:Ā
That nagging feeling there’s someone ā€œmore realā€ out there. Someone who fits the title better.
Ā
And here’s the clincher: none of them lack skills, confidence, or experience. They know they’re capable. And still: shrinking sneaks in.Ā
Ā
Shrinking isn’t just about playing small. It’s about editing yourself down until your business gets only half of you. And that’s not what it needs.
Ā
Our businesses feel it when we duck instead of stand. They need us as fully fledged founders—unapologetic, whole, unshrunk.
Ā
So I’ve set myself a challenge. For the next 8 weeks, leading up to the launch of Gravitas, I’m practicing unshrinking in public over on Instagram. Each week I’ll take on a small, visible dare to take up more space.
Ā
The first? A carousel celebrating everything I manifested and made happen this year.
Ā
I’d love for you to join me. Follow along, try the challenges yourself, or just let them nudge you to notice where you might be shrinking when your work deserves more of you.
Ā
Because the truth is:Ā
your business doesn’t need a ā€œby-the-bookā€ founder. It needs you. All of you.

Like basically everyone, I tuned into Taylor Swift’s New Heights episode. (Okay fine, I watched TikTok snippets before watching the whole episode on 1x.)
Ā
But then… something stopped me in my tracks. It was just seven words: ā€œI’m in the business of human emotion.ā€ Sit with this sentence for a sec.
Ā
As you’re probably aware, she said it about fighting for her master records. Taylor didn’t send an army of lawyers — she sent her mom. Because for her, it wasn’t a contract negotiation. It was her diary, her heartbreaks, her whole damn life.

Ā
Here’s the pattern:Ā
We’re taught business should be run with spreadsheets and ā€œbest practices.ā€ But spreadsheets only measure what already exists. They can’t tell you what your audience is yearning for, or where the real connection is missing.
Ā
That’s what emotionally attuned strategy does. It spots the gaps no one else is filling — the feelings people are craving but can’t find. Belonging. Calm. Agency. Recognition.
Ā
And when you build there? You stop blending in. You stop shrinking. You create work that resonates so deeply it can’t be ignored.
Ā
Head-led businesses analyze the past.
Heart-led businesses shape the future.
