Early Giving for North Texas Giving Day Opens August 28!

In Dallas County, 1 in 4 adults struggles with low literacy. That is thousands of our neighbors who may face challenges filling out a job application, reading to their child, or even reading this sentence.

But, First name / friend, together, we can change that story.

Early giving for North Texas Giving Day opens this Thursday, August 28. Don’t wait—donate to Aspire today. Help turn lessons into life-changing experiences. Your immediate gift makes a real, lasting difference—one student, one goal, one page at a time.

On September 18, the entire North Texas community will come together to do good! This is the moment for everyone to step up, answer the call to serve others, and support the organizations leading the mission of good.

Give today and be the reason hope starts for someone in your community. Donate now—your early gift builds momentum and inspires others to join you in making a difference.

Every dollar supports our reading, workforce, ESL, and GED classes. Each program helps adults gain skills. These skills lead to better jobs, stronger families, and a more empowered future.

Will you be a turning point in someone’s story? 🩵

Now Enrolling: Reading Classes for Adults

At Aspire’s summer SEE Recognition Ceremony, students proudly received their certificates marking their advancement through program levels. A highlight was a Level 4 student proudly announcing their acceptance into Dallas College, a milestone showing how the right support can open doors through education.

These milestones are incredibly important because for many adults, reading struggles began in early childhood, go undiagnosed, or are unsupported in traditional classrooms. By adulthood, these learners may still be unable to read or recognize the sounds letters make, often starting at a pre-K to first-grade reading level.

That is why Aspire’s Sequential English Education (SEE) program exists. SEE is designed for adults (18+) with visual and/or auditory processing differences, such as dyslexia or auditory processing disorder, who need a more personalized approach to reading. In small, supportive classes, trained volunteer instructors use a structured, multisensory approach that helps students engage with language through hearing, seeing, speaking, and writing. Over time, students gain the repetition and practice needed to build comprehension and confidence.

Across the program, we have seen students achieve goals that once felt out of reach, from completing important forms independently to reading to their children. These accomplishments are the life-changing impact of literacy.

Aspire is enrolling for its fall session of adult reading classes, starting in September. If you know someone who could benefit from this kind of support, encourage them to call 214.824.2000 or complete an interest form at www.aspiretolearn.org/interest-form.
