Hi Muses. Happy September. Fall has crept up on us..boots and sweaters are coming out of storage.

The first Friday in August, I had a co-working session and started writing my intro. It was about how I’ve begun clenching my teeth and how I’m working to stop this habit that started a few months ago. I wrote about stress, but a few weeks ago, I texted my friend Matrika, and that conversation sparked a new intro...

Matrika and I met in the executive program out of the Center for Social Impact Strategy in 2017. We sat next to each other and became accountability buddies. From there, we’ve evolved into actual friends—visiting each other, sending long voice messages, sharing IG messages full of reels, texting, forgetting, then remembering to respond... It’s a fun, reciprocal, and healthy mid-distance friendship. Drake was wrong—no new friends was bad advice. Anyway—

For years, she would check in about museologie, and this past month, I shared that I've been feeling pulled to dedicate more time and energy to my business so that it can be my main source of income in a few years.

With my pregnancy, Harmony's birth, and first year, I put all museologie momentum on hold, and it’s been about 20 months now. During this time, I’ve been taking continuing education classes focused on older adult fitness and conducting an unofficial landscape analysis—identifying who’s in the senior fitness space, the gaps, the opportunities, and where my expertise fits. After I shared this with Matrika, she said, “Sign me up to help in whatever capacity I can.”

And I am.

Balancing work and motherhood has humbled me, and for the first time, I’m viewing museologie differently. I’m ready to partner with other professionals, seek help for my weak areas, and be very strategic about what growth looks like.

For the remainder of the year, I'm going to create a plan- a road map for the future of museologie. I'll touch back with Matrika and go from there!

I've been thinking about what it could mean to have a thriving small business. In a few days (on Friday) I have another co-work date and I'll plan to spend time on a business plan. If you have a template or process you like, send it my way.

Wellness Corner

Financial Wellness: Do yall talk to your friends about money? During my next group call, I’m adding a money topic to the agenda.  Last year, I reflected on what my parents taught me about money during my upbringing and how that shaped and influenced my relationship with money now. What's your money story?

Physical Wellness:  If you LOVE a fresh off the vine tomato, then our SEASON IS HERE! 🍅🍅🍅 I am giving you (probably for the third year) my favorite way to use fresh tomatoes. It's a simple, easy recipe from Food52 that highlights the tomato flavor. I literally made it last night. Pasta. Tomatoes. Butter. Basic. Garlic. The season will be over soon, so hurry. 🍅

Social Wellness: I love hosting, and I’ve been thinking A LOT about hosting in a way that isn’t costly-- just friends getting together to hang out. I invited some friends down for Father's Day and hosted a surprise brunch, and recently I held a “not us being the parents” gathering for a bunch of babies and their parents. Recently, I came across an IG account focused on helping create meaningful gatherings. See a post from this account below. Just come over and kick it…it doesn't have to be an event for the 'gram.

Mental Health: I’m looking for a therapist…again. 🙃 I wasn’t feeling my last 2 therapists, and this time I'm being more intentional about the questions I want to explore and the type of counseling that would be most beneficial. As I'm in the trenches of searching, I came across this step-by-step guide for finding a therapist. Maybe it'll help me…and you?

Creative Wellness: The New York Times has a Creativity Challenge. I’ve seen all types of challenges, but never a creativity challenge. It's five days of daily activities, and the goal is to help us become “lighter, happier, and less stuck.” Anyone want to start on Sept 8th (next Monday) with me?

Remember:
Wellness includes physical, occupational, social, financial, mental/emotional, spiritual and creative health. It's all about balance!
🏆
That's your wellness corner!
