By the time you’re reading this, I’m (hopefully) nowhere near my laptop. I actually wrote this email last Friday so I could enjoy a full 3-day weekend — no inbox, no client calls, no laptop guilt.

My weekend technically started Friday at noon.

I scooped up my son from his half-day of preschool, and my husband + his brother tagged along as we surprised him with lunch at the pizza place next door. (Pizza is basically his love language right now.)

Afterward, we headed home to soak up some outdoor time in this very “is-it-fall-already?” 65° Pennsylvania weather.
And while I was typing this up, I couldn’t help but remember a Labor Day conversation years ago at my grandparents’ dining room table.

My cousin looked around mid-chat about our weekend plans and asked — completely serious“Wait… is Labor Day about celebrating women who’ve been in labor?” 😂

(She was dead serious, and it’s one of those family stories that will live on forever.)

Funny as that was, Labor Day is about celebrating work and rest.

And honestly, First name / Friend

That’s the exact reason I can take a three-day weekend at month-end without losing my mind. Not because I’ve got some magic system no one else does — but because I actually plan my life first and then let my business fall in line.

Here’s the move that bought me a guilt-free 3-day weekend: I blocked out my personal time before I touched my client calendar.

Sounds almost too simple, right? But that one shift is everything.

Most people build their schedule backwards — they cram in client work, meetings, and a million “shoulds,” and then hope they’ll have time left over for a date night or a kid’s soccer game.

Spoiler: they don’t.

Flip it. Start with the life stuff. Family lunch, preschool pickups, even an afternoon nap — put those blocks in first. Then let your business tasks fall around them.

👉🏻 That’s how you stop feeling like your life has to fit into the cracks of your business.
👉🏻 That’s how you actually enjoy things like Labor Day instead of secretly resenting them because you “can’t afford” to unplug.
I’m toying with the idea of creating a quick training (and maybe a free template 👀) on how I time-block my calendar so I can take a 3-day weekend at month-end without losing clients or cashflow.

Your business doesn’t need more from you this week.

It needs you rested, clear-headed, and showing up as the version of you that isn’t running on fumes.

Take the shortcut. Post the thing. Close the laptop.

Go live your life — your biz will thank you.
