Thank you for your prayers and support during our recent IB PYP authorization visit. The visiting team was deeply impressed with our students, staff, and the strength of our school community. We’ll hear an official decision in the next few weeks, but already we are grateful for how God is working through parents like you to make this vision possible.

As the ones who know your children best, you play the most important role in their growth. That’s why we’d love for parents of kindergarten through 5th grade students to join us for PYP Orientation Night on September 8th at 5p. This evening is designed to help you feel more confident and connected to your child’s learning.

 

 

This evening, led by our PYP Coordinator and Lower School Principal, will give parents a clear understanding of how standards-based grading works, the essentials of the IB Primary Years Program, and the “why” behind PYP at The Rock School. 

 

We’re excited for what God is doing in our students this year and encourage at least one parent from each PYP household to attend.

 

All students in Preschool through 11th grade will be photographed on Tuesday Sept. 9th. Orders can be placed online at www.strawbridge.net with the school code FM471031. (Orders placed more than 5 days after picture day may incur a late fee.) Make-up pictures will take place on November 11. 

 

This week we'll be starting something new to help bring balance to our schedule. This Friday, September 5th, all MYP & DP classes and PYP activities will run on their typical Monday schedule instead of the normal Friday schedule. This will include a 1-hour morning of worship starting at 8:30am in the auditorium during the time that is typically chapel on a Monday. This adjustment helps us balance the hours in different classes that are thrown off by Monday Holidays. We'll have three more of these "Friday as Monday" schedule changes in the Spring semester, but this will be the only one for the Fall.

 

The Collaboratory is now a Phones Free Zone! Parents can sign a credit card authorization form to add a card on file in the Collab or have their student ready to make a physical payment (card or cash).

 

We’re looking for someone to join our team from 7:00–8:00 AM on school mornings. This role is a great fit for a college student or adult who enjoys working with kids and has time in the mornings. If you’re interested, please contact brent.smith@therock.school. 

Girls and their parents in grades 5-8 interested in joining the Middle School Girls Basketball team this year should attend this interest meeting.
