Month over month, Gestic.org keeps improving. Based on your requests and suggestions, based on some innovative ideas and designs. Here is what August brought to the plateforme.
Maintenance Notice
Please be advised that we will be performing scheduled database maintenance on Friday, September 12, 2025, between 1:00 PM and 4:00 PM EDT (5:00 PM to 8:00 PM GMT).
During this time, the application will be temporarily unavailable. This maintenance is necessary to increase server storage capacity and improve system reliability, preventing future outages.
While the maintenance window is scheduled for three hours, we anticipate the actual downtime will be minimal. Service will be restored as soon as the work is complete.
We apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate your understanding.
What's New and Improved?
Grid view improvement: The grid view got a nice improvement where you can now adjust the size of the pictures! This is particularly useful when using very wide or very small screens. Look at the slider over the grid, and give it a try.
Scanner Auto Crop: Last month we deployed the auto trigger for the scanner, this month we delivered the auto crop! We realized many users found it challenging to maximize the size of the card in the picture. Sometimes it requires to lower the camera, some times the focus doesn't allow that, etc. We have introduce an option to let AI crop the card for you! This is very useful when using the phone camera or even sometimes with a webcam and we highly encourage you to activate it. But you can most probably ignore this if you are using a document scanner.
Scanner Sticky Settings: When scanning big bulks of cards, it is sometimes useful to fix the language or the set of those cards. This makes the recognition more accurate and faster! This is now possible in the config modal (The gear icon) of the scan page.
Scanner Promo Sets: There are 11606 promo cards in the database, and 514718 non promo cards. Chances are you are scanning non-promo cards. However, some cards are confusing and can be promo, or not. They fail in the scanner and you have to manually review them. Excluding the promo sets from the scanner helps to get a better recognition rate. This option will soon be activated by default.
Lists operations: Imagine you have a list of cards that you want. Can be a deck, or can just be a list of what you are looking for. And now, you want to know from that list, what you are missing. The “Lists Operations” option allows you to do that. Open the list you want to analyze, click on the operation icon in the tool box, select the other lists, and validate! See below for more detailed steps…
And More: As usual, we did way more than what has been listed above! We made the finish toggling better, fixed things here and there, improved the experience and the look and feel, and more.
Coming Next:
Order by insertion date: Some of you asked for the ability to order the lists by the date the card has been inserted. This will be deployed in the next few days.
The List recognition: We are currently working on new AI model to recognize the The List cards. If it works well, we will add the logic to get the correct collector number and recognition in the scanner.
LGS Inventories Improvement: Mapping LGS inventories to the Scryfall database is a complicated challenge! We recently tried using AI to do that, and we got very good results! We still want to implement a complete AI solution for one LGS and see if it improves Gestic's offerings. If this is successful, we will begin moving all the LGS under this option.
As always, We Need Your Input!
Highlighted Feature of the Month: Lists Operations
This month, we are excited to introduce List Operations, a powerful new feature designed to streamline how you compare and manage data. You can now perform set operations between two lists—such as finding all unique items—and generate a third list containing the results.
To illustrate, consider a practical use case. By comparing a specific "Deck List" against your collection, you can instantly generate a "Shopping List" of all the cards you still need to acquire, saving time and eliminating manual cross-referencing.
Begin by importing https://archidekt.com/decks/56044 as a CSV file, with all the possible columns and the header. Then make it a “Deck” type and changed the title.
Before finding what's missing, we first optimize the list with our 'Adapt with Collection' feature. This powerful tool scans the deck and automatically substitutes required cards with equivalent versions you already own from different sets, minimizing your shopping list from the start.
With the deck list optimized, it's time to find the remaining cards:
• First, create a new, empty list to hold the results. We'll call ours "Missing Cards - Mono Green".
• Next, navigate back to your optimized deck list and click the Operations icon in the toolbar to launch the comparison tool.
This will open a dialog box where you can configure the operation. Follow these steps to generate your list of missing cards.
• Choose the Exclude List: In the section for excluding items, select your main "Collection" list. This is the list of cards the system will subtract from your deck list.
• Select the Resulting List: For the final setting, choose the empty list you created earlier, "Missing Cards Mono Green," as the destination for the results.
• Execute the Operation: Click "Confirm" to complete the process. The "Missing Cards" list will now be populated with exactly the cards you need to acquire.
Finally, open your new "Missing Cards Mono Green" list and change its type to "Looking For". This instantly transforms it into an active shopping list, showing you exactly where to find the items you need.
With List Operations, you can go from planning to purchasing in just a few clicks, bringing that deck you've been wanting to build one step closer to completion.
Thanks for being an incredible part of Gestic's journey. Your support means the world to us,
