Message from Sarala, Harambee Arts Nepal Country Director 

Dear First name / Friend of Harambee Arts,

 

Nepal is currently navigating a complex mix of political, economic, environmental, and social crises. The ongoing monsoon season has caused flooding and landslides, disrupting transportation and threatening daily life in villages across the country.
 

At the same time, political instability and corruption have left many citizens — especially young people — disillusioned.

 

With limited job opportunities and slow national development, Nepal’s youth are leaving the country in search of work, education, and safety. This mass exodus has opened dangerous doors for human traffickers who exploit the promise of foreign employment or higher education.

Where women and girls were once trafficked primarily into brothels in India, today men and boys are also being targeted. 

 

Trafficking networks now use deceit to funnel people abroad for forced labor, sexual exploitation, and even organ trafficking. 

 

Meanwhile, Nepal’s adult entertainment sector is becoming increasingly dangerous as minor girls are coerced into working in dance bars, massage parlors, and restaurants.

We collaborate with nonprofit organizations whose mission is to rescue people from trafficking across Asia.
 

Through our workshops, we provide survivors with opportunities to initiate a healing process through Expressive Arts and Community Building.

Every training session, every safe return home, and every moment of healing is made possible by friends like you.
