Hi First name / Slothies!

This edition of the Vine comes to you from my sickbed.

Right after the Labor Day weekend, I came down with the nastiest bug and was basically down for the count for the whole first week of September. Pretty dramatic response to the end of summer if you ask me, but alas, I felt compelled to reflect and chat to you all since I couldn't socialize IRL.

Being ill for an entire week really did a number on me mentally because it was the absolute worst time to get sick ( not that there is ever a good time).

I had several client deliverables due, a home org project, and several new business discussions on the books. And that was just the work part of it all. Pilates, birthday parties, and Family gatherings all were going to be missed/canceled! The week was ambitious at best ( are we surprised), but being sick just made it extremely overwhelming.

I found myself feeling anxious and unsure of what to let go of in the sake of taking care of myself. All of it was important, and people definitely would be let down. But I've learned that I can't ignore my body, nor can I make everyone happy. My health is the most important, and when I am at my best, I show up a thousand times better for everyone else. It was a mindset shift and reality check I needed in order to reschedule and rework my entire week confidently.

The best part is that everyone took it way better than I thought they would. And that helped me focus on getting better and doing only what was necessary.

Proof that you can take care of yourself and progress simultaneously. All it took was me giving myself grace and permission to do less.

So I share all this to say that when everything feels overwhelming, impossible, and downright scary island vibes ( any RHONY fans out there?!), the only way to see a semblance of calm and clarity starts with your mindset. You have to believe it, be okay with it, and accept it… first!

After that, you can move forward from a place of confidence, calm, and focus. If you stay scattered, frazzled, afraid, or downright ruthless with yourself, it gives everyone else permission to feed into that energy too.

Let's not encourage bad vibes. Be kind to yourself and set the tone, pace, and vibe whenever you can.

You’ve got this—on your side always! 🦥💛

XOXO,
Renee

For Mental Clarity
DIY Something
The husband and I recently took on a DIY project in the backyard to install some new lanterns. Something about using your brain creatively to solve a problem is oddly relaxing and oh so rewarding!

Stay Savvy, Slothies!
