Through program referrals by surrounding departments of children and family services, Legacy Residential Homes will serve neglected and abused young men between 12 and 21 years of age - helping them realize their maximum potential by guiding them to and through the milestones each child needs to reach in order to become successful, well-adjusted and independent adults.

resident tip of the month
one outfit at a time
Dressing is an essential Activity of Daily Living (ADL) that empowers residents with independence, strengthens confidence, and supports a positive self-image. It lays the foundation for self-care, and personal expression while building important skills such as fine motor control, body awareness, and sequencing.
5 Tips for Dressing Well:
Choose the Right Outfit: Consider the weather, activity, and setting.
Prepare Clothing: Lay out clothes in order to support sequencing.
Put On Clothing Step-by-Step: Follow a consistent routine from start to finish.
Manage Fasteners: Practice buttons, zippers, and snaps with patience and focus.
Check and Adjust: Ensure comfort, fit, and readiness before moving on.
Mastering dressing skills builds self-assurance, encourages individuality, and supports success in daily routines and social settings.

compliance corner
report, protect & comply
Incident reporting is essential to accurately and impartially document resident or staff-related incidents in alignment with Legacy Residential Homes protocols and OAC 5101:2-9-23.
All staff must report resident or staff incidents within 24 hours to the placing agency and custodian.
This includes serious injuries, AWOLs, school suspensions, alleged abuse, law enforcement involvement, and other unusual incidents.
Timely incident reporting protects residents’ safety and rights, supports staff through clear documentation, ensures regulatory compliance, and maintains trust with families, agencies, and oversight bodies.
