Welcome to new readers of this newsletter! Our readership is expanding, reflecting our goal of helping Ayurveda reach into Canadian kitchens, gardens, and families providing guidance for those new to Ayurveda and those learning for livelyhood.
I’ve observed over the last forty years of international clinical practice that interest in Ayurveda is growing now, as people seek a tried and true health care science for digestion, immunity, fertility, long life, and happiness.
Late delivery of this edition is due to a delay caused by my recovery from a recent humerus injury. Ayurveda has been helping me re-knit the bone, repair tendons and ligaments, and bring my digestion back from the body/mind shock. Friends and well-wishers have supported me amazingly, humbling me along with the injury.
At this important change of season, caution is advised, just as at a traffic intersection, where different interests need to find an order in which to move forward, and avoid disorder. Stopping, resting, observing, self-introspection, and patience are all needed at present to help avoid signs of imbalanced Vata, such as overwhelm, forgetfulness, erratic decisions, misinterpretation, and lack of coordination.
In fall, your exercise program is focused on protecting sound sleep, good digestion, joint flexibility, regular elimination, and consistent energy reserves during the coming cold, dry, changeable and windy days ahead.
Autumn Wellness Practices
1. Protecting Joint Flexibility Gentle yoga: Cat/Cow stretches, hip circles, and shoulder rolls. Maintain mobility, improve circulation, and reduce stiffness.
2. Maintaining Regular Elimination Warm water upon waking followed by a short clockwise abdominal organ massage (5–10 min) stimulates digestion. Include cooked seasonal vegetables for your dosha and healthy fats to keep elimination regular.
3. Sustaining Consistent Energy Reserves Take mindful breaks, practice deep breathing, or five rounds of Alternate Nostril Breathing (Nadi Shodhana). This practice reduces stress, prevents energy crashes and helps internalize our scattered attention.
4. Self-Oiling (Abhyanga) Massage warm organic oil about 45 minutes before your morning shower, except on menstrual flow days, shampoo is ok but avoid soap. Buy organic oil here.
5. (Dashamula) Ten Roots Tea Simmer 1tsp Dashamula blend in 2 cups purified water for five to ten minutes min, cover, cool, strain, sip when warm; add honey if desired. Buy Dashmoola here. Benefits: Main compound for pacifiying Vata, promotes a sense of grounding and calm, supports healthy elimination of natural toxins and provides traditional support for healthy bones.
6. Six Tastes Lunch Example
Autumn Kitchari Bowl
½ cup mung dahl + ½ cup wild or red rice
1 tsp ghee
½ tsp cumin seed, ½ tsp coriander seeds, ½ tsp. freshly grated ginger root, ½ tsp. tumeric powder
This warm and practical video is your seasonal reset for body, mind, and spirit, offering guidance on adjusting routines, food, and lifestyle to the seasonal shift. Perfect for anyone wanting to embrace Autumn instead of resisting it.

Why Ayurveda is the Future of Holistic Health Education in Canada. Ayurveda holistic health education is experiencing a renaissance in Canada and worldwide, and for all the right reasons!
As we venture into the final quarter of 2025, Canadians are actively exploring healthier and more mindful ways to live. Ayurveda, once merely an ancient system, is now recognized as a modern solution for contemporary issues, including stress, sleepless nights, and digestive disturbances. Increasingly, people are turning to Ayurveda for health education because it emphasizes prevention over mere treatment. This approach considers the entire human being rather than just isolated symptoms.
In Canada, where healthcare systems are top-notch but often reactive, Ayurveda provides a gentle yet powerful shift toward proactive living. Institutions like CAISH Ayurveda are stepping up to meet this rising demand with certified courses, specialized programs, and engaging workshops.
