How are you!? We’re back with a little joy + design inspo for your day. September was extra special at KGC – not only were we busy with site visits, design reviews, and plenty of sample runs, but we also celebrated our 5-year anniversary! This milestone means so much to me, and I’m beyond grateful for these past 5 years. Looking back at all the ideas that have come to life feels surreal, inspiring + so motivating for what’s ahead.
There’s so much to love about the design space, especially on social media. But if you’re not a design professional, you may be puzzled by some of the words you come across – even ones we may use in this newsletter! So, we’re here to fix that with a design word of the month feature 🤗
SO, WHAT THE HECK IS ZELLIGE?
Zellige is the name for handcrafted, glazed terracotta tiles that originate from Morocco. These tiles are known for their uniqueness – and that’s why we love them too. With variations in texture, color + shape, each zellige tile is one-of-a-kind and adds perfectly imperfect interest to your space.

We love that because we're team summer all the time, but there are some things we love that the fall season brings – rich moody colors, deep orange sunsets, cozying up with a book + a bit of calm before the holiday craze ✨

Keeping with our deep tones theme from last month, we've curated some amber tones accessories that are perfect for transitioning into fall. I cannot wait to wear this brown suede shoulder bag all season!
As promised, here’s a first look at our #BESTBUILD project progress!! This one is really taking shape over in Cardiff, and we are giddy every time we get to do a site visit. With the hardwood floors installed, it’s really starting to feel like HOME for our clients! This has been such a large remodel, and we’re so grateful to be part of the team + continue this journey with them.
THE GIRLS BATH!!! If you were a part of the pink tile debate over on our Instagram a few months back – here’s the result! After weeks of searching for the perfect pink for the girls’ bathroom, we landed on a stunning blush subway tile installed vertically + stacked for a modern feel. In the niche, we added the cutest zellige mosaic, and I am obsessed! As we wrap up this first major remodel phase, custom vanities are being installed, followed by countertops + plumbing fixtures.

This month, I want to talk about the power of the edit! It’s a simple but often overlooked step, and the best part? It doesn’t cost a thing. Removing anything in your space that no longer serves you makes room for renewed energy and can completely shift how you feel at home. Our environments have a huge impact on mental health, and this is an easy way to feel lighter + more inspired every day.

→ negative space is your friend – don't be afraid of blank space, not every wall needs art and not every inch of the shelf need a trinket. remove anything that feels like filler + give your favorites some breathing room.
→ If you haven’t used it in over a year, let it go! From décor to kitchen gadgets or old blankets, releasing unused items clears both physical and mental clutter.
→ keep what sparks joy – it’s not always as simple as it sounds, but it’s a great starting point. Trust your gut, if something doesn’t feel good or serve a functional purpose, it’s time to let it go.
