According to Dr. Corinne Ware there are four types of spirituality. These four types include the Head (or intellectual), Heart (or devotional), Mystic (or contemplative), and Social Justice (or kingdom).

The "Head" type seeks understanding through intellect, the "Heart" type seeks connection through personal relationship and the emotion, the "Mystic" type seeks depth through inner experience and awe, and the "Social Justice" type seeks spiritual fulfillment through action and service to others.

Dr. Ware breaks it down even further:

Head (Intellectual)
  • Focus: Seeking God, the divine, or ultimate reality through reason, intellect, and belief.
  • Practices: Reading sacred texts, studying theology, engaging in thoughtful discussions.
  • Keywords: Learning, knowledge, thoughts, beliefs, reason.
Heart (Devotional/Emotional)
  • Focus: Experiencing God or the divine through feeling, emotion, warmth, and personal connection.
  • Practices: Prayer, personal relationships, fostering warmth and spontaneity within a community.
  • Keywords: Intuitive faith, relationships, personal experience, emotional connection.
Mystic (Contemplative)
  • Focus: Experiencing God or the divine through inner spiritual depth, awe, silence, and mystery.
  • Practices: Meditation, contemplation, seeking meaningfulness, valuing simplicity.
  • Keywords: Inner world, depth, meaning, beauty, mystery, silence.
Social Justice (Kingdom/Action)
  • Focus: Experiencing God or the divine through a passion for justice, social action, and mission to society.
  • Practices: Acts of service, activism, working to build a better world.
  • Keywords: Action, service, mission, social responsibility, building the Kingdom.
A “Woke” soul is all of these and all four are well balanced. Most people fit into one maybe two of these categories and often come across as out of balance or static in their energy. These are the souls searching for greater meaning in their lives and often feel lost and afraid. These are also the souls who are most vulnerable and willing to believe whatever they are told without question.

It is important that we are balanced in all areas of our lives for when one aspect of our life is off we can feel a disconnect and that can cause feelings of anxiety, depression, loneliness and fear.

So, where do you fall in these categories? Do you feel spiritually balanced? Or do you feel like you are missing something? How do we become spiritually balanced?

For me it's being vigilant of my spiritual practices. Meditation is a necessity for me, starting my day with meditation helps bring my energy into alignment and helps me to connect with my souls energy and purpose.

It is also important to me to treat everyone I come across with dignity and respect whether I agree with their beliefs or lifestyle is irrelevant - everyone deserves to be treated with the same respect I would and demand for myself.

It is also important for me to keep my ego in check. I know when I begin to judge someone or I get angry at something that shouldn't really make me angry my ego is out of balance. I keep my ego in balance again through spiritual practices.

I also must check in with my heart energy. Do I have enough love in me to give away? If the answer is no then I need to check in on my self-care - am I loving myself enough? Only by loving myself unconditionally can I show that same love to others. This requires me to be gentle with myself and forgive myself for my mistakes and shortcomings.

What practices do you have that keep you spiritually balanced? Do you find yourself judging people or loving and accepting them? Do you find yourself judging yourself? What gives you peace of mind, body and soul?

We tend to forget that our primary being and body is spirit and it's that body that brings us our purpose and reason for being. But as humans we focus more on the physical when really we need to keep all bodies (physical, spiritual, and mental/emotional) in balance in order to flow through life with ease, light, and love.

May you all discover the magical being that you are! After all we are beings of light and love and we need to tap into that energy, our soul energy, more now than ever. Let's truly make America great again by spreading this love and light!!
