In a world that moves fast and speaks loudly, our inner voice often becomes a whisper beneath the noise. Yet this voice—the quiet wisdom of the soul—is one of our greatest sources of clarity, truth, and divine guidance. Cultivating the art of inner listening is not about striving harder to hear; it’s about softening, making space, and attuning to the subtle frequency of your spirit.
There was a time I didn’t believe I had any intuitive or psychic ability at all. I was always drawn to those who did—curious, admiring, and a little in awe—but I truly thought it was something “other people” were gifted with. I believed I didn’t have any special gifts. But what I’ve come to understand—and now know deeply—is that we are all intuitive. Every one of us has the capacity to hear, feel, and sense our inner guidance. We simply need to remember how.
One moment that changed everything for me came not long after my mother passed. My father and I were driving down Route 15 in Pennsylvania on our way to visit my sister in Virginia. We always preferred that quieter road over the busy I-95. The traffic was heavy, and we ended up behind a truck hauling long steel girders. Out of nowhere, I heard a voice in my mind: “Step on the brake.” Without hesitation, I did. Just seconds later, one of the massive girders came flying off the truck. Had I not slowed down, it would have crashed directly through the passenger window—exactly where my dad was sitting. That moment stays with me to this day. It was the first time I realized I could truly hear and trust my inner guidance. And that it could make all the difference.
That experience opened the door for me. Eventually, I said yes to a deeper path and committed to learning more. I took formal psychic and spiritual development classes for seven years. Through that journey, I learned how to recognize the voice of my soul, how to interpret intuitive nudges, and how to trust what I was receiving—not just for myself, but in service to others. What I know now is this: your inner voice may not always speak in words, but it will always speak in truth.
Think of inner listening as tending a sacred flame. You don’t force it to blaze—you simply clear away what blocks it and give it what it needs to glow: stillness, presence, and love.
To me, inner listening is more essential now than ever before. In a world filled with noise, confusion, and distraction, our ability to hear ourselves—our truth, our light, our divine compass—is what leads us forward. Your inner voice is your sacred guide. It’s already there, waiting for you to trust it.
May you trust and listen to your inner guidance,
Sue
