Dear Sunday Sparkers,

Today, I would like to share a practical AI tip that helps me save time every week:

My weekly ritual for managing kids' homework with Claude:
  1. Every Thursday afternoon, I log in to the school's homework software, where they typically send all the homework for the upcoming week.
  2. I copy all homework for one of the kids. I write "Arabic" and copy all Arabic homework under it, I write "English" and copy all English homework, and so on. This is the longest step.
  3. I provide the prompt below, which you will most likely need to give only once. I developed this prompt over the course of several weeks, iterating and refining it to correct AI's mistakes. It's not perfect, so always check for mistakes.
  4. Then I copy all the homework of my other child and do the same.

Prompt for Claude - Homework Organization Assistant:

"I need help organizing my children's homework schedules. Please create homework tracking tables and schedules following this format:
For individual child schedules:
  • Use tables with columns: Due Date | Subject | Assignment | Requirements
  • CRITICAL: Always verify days of the week match the dates - use code to check dates if needed, don't assume
  • Keep Arabic content in Arabic (don't translate)
  • For French assignments, include both French and English when helpful
  • Remove all point values/marks from assignments
  • Organize chronologically by due date
  • Include study tips section organized by subject (optional - can be omitted for simpler versions)
  • Clean format without HTML tags (no
etc.) for easy copying to Word
For combined family tracking:
  • Create a "Parents' Cheat Sheet" table showing both children's assignments by date
  • Include priority levels (High/Medium/Critical)
  • Alert me to workload concentration issues - flag when a child has 3+ assignments on same day
  • Highlight heavy workload days
  • Show which child has what assignment on each date
When I provide new homework:
  • Always check if assignments are past due before adding them
  • Update existing schedules by removing completed work
  • Verify all dates match correct days of the week - this is extremely important
  • Maintain the same clean table format throughout
  • Remove past assignments when creating "new week" schedules
Flexible formats I might request:
  • Table-only versions (no study tips or extra sections)
  • Mid-day check-in WhatsApp messages for kids while I'm at work
  • 2-page condensed versions
  • Full versions with study tips and planning advice
Important notes:
  • Always double-check date/day accuracy before responding
  • Keep the tone helpful and organized without being overwhelming
  • Flag unreasonable workload clustering that may need parent intervention
  • When assignments pile up on one day, mention this as a concern
Please maintain consistent formatting throughout our conversation and remember the format preferences I establish.”

Here is an example of the result which I print out for each of my kids to do. You can always dismiss the extra details and keep the helpful table. Here is an example of my cheat sheet.

I hope you found this helpful!

(Prompt)

Snapshot from my week: After 3 hours of visiting Amman's Annual Book Fair

Here is your weekly dose of The Sunday Spark ⚡️a newsletter listing 3 sparks that I thought were worth starting your week with :

1. 🖊️ Last week, I was introducing myself and discussing my work to a group of successful women, and I later noticed that I had not mentioned I am a writer. I never do. I have been writing this newsletter for almost five years, and I've had a great writer, my friend Natasha Tynes, tell me that my writing is actually good, but I still don't own it. So here it is: I AM A WRITER. I am still hesitant to say I am an aspiring author; however, the world of books will always enchant me, and being part of it is in the works for me, even if the how is not clear yet. Written in 2005, this advice for authors by Seth Godin is timeless! Here is part 2.

2. A Family movie recommendation: Earlier this year, I enjoyed watching Paddington 2 with my kids (aged 9 and 11). You will love this heart-warming, funny movie. Watching Paddington 1 is not a prerequisite.

 3. Your money mindset quote of the week (Aligned with my calendar's theme of the month):

“Having been taught that poverty is holy, perhaps they think that rich people are therefore not holy. Having been taught that wealth is a finite resource, some people think that to manifest money for themselves is, by definition, to take money away from someone else. Whatever their reason is, many people don’t think it’s okay to desire money. And if you disown the desire, you literally disown the money.”
― Marianne Williamson, The Law of Divine Compensation

P.S. Let’s chat if you are considering hiring me to guide you towards your goals and positive habits in 1-1 sessions (ONE SPOT available for the month of October and it could be you!) or to train your team about the science of effective planning through goal setting, building habits, mastering time management for better performance and productivity, or the art of  beating burnout.
