1.) Farmers' Market Nutrition Program:
Congressman Rouzer from North Carolina’s 7th District, drafted a bill that would give the Farmers Market Nutrition Programs (FMNP) a much-needed boost, putting programs on solid ground with consistent authorization and funding. The bill aims to consolidate the programs and stabilize funding over time and let these programs expand by adding veterans. This ultimately makes it easier for everyone to use nutrition benefits at farmers markets. In June 2025, Jewish Family Services, in collaboration with Greenwich Foodshed Alliance, implemented the FMNP here in Greenwich - it was a huge success. Please take action!

4.) The Local Farmers Feeding our Communities Act in the House (HR 4782) and Strengthening Local Food Security Act in the Senate (S. 2338)
Two bills have been introduced to create a permanent grant program for state and tribal governments to purchase food from local farms for hunger relief organizations and schools: The Local Farmers Feeding our Communities Act in the House (HR 4782) and Strengthening Local Food Security Act in the Senate (S. 2338).
These bills bring us one step closer to achieving what LFPA and LFS participants at all levels of the food chain have been asking for: reliable funding to purchase healthy foods for children, families, and communities. Our goal is to show strong bipartisan support for both bills, but we’re focusing for now on getting additional Republican cosponsors.
