🎄 Get Ready for Our 12th Annual Winter Showcase — Magic in Motion! ✨

 

We are so excited as we prepare for one of our favorite DDS traditions — our 12th Annual Winter Showcase, Magic in Motion! This special event is always a highlight of our year and a wonderful way to celebrate the holiday season together as a dance family.

Each class has been hard at work learning their showcase dance during regular class time and practicing each week in preparation for the big weekend. Dancers have been sized in class, and costumes are being ordered — this year’s 3-in-1 costume design allows for multiple looks and a smoother backstage experience. As we get closer to the performances, we’ll share detailed information about how each class will wear their costume.

Winter Showcase is truly one of the most magical parts of our season. There’s nothing like seeing our dancers shine on stage — the excitement, the joy, and the holiday spirit fill the theater and create memories that last a lifetime. Whether it’s your dancer’s first time performing or their tenth, this event is always something special.

Tickets go on sale Friday, November 14th at 12:00 PM.

Price: $17 per seat — tickets tend to go quickly, so don’t wait to purchase!
 

Anyone who needs a seat must have a ticket. Babies/lap children do not need tickets.

If you or a family member require handicap or wheelchair-accessible seating, please let us know after purchasing so we can accommodate your needs. The theater does have stairs, but accessible seating is available in both the front row and top row.

Join us on Tuesday, November 4th at 6:00 PM for our Parent Information Meeting!

 

This session is perfect for new families and for returning parents who’d like a quick refresher on how Showcase season works. We’ll go over everything you need to know — tickets, volunteering, costumes, and more.

 

It’s also a wonderful chance to meet our team, ask questions, and connect with other dance families as we get ready for Magic in Motion! ✨

🎃HALLOWEEN DRESS UP WEEK RECAP!

We had so much fun celebrating Halloween Dress-Up Week at the studio! Thank you to all the dancers who came dressed up, brought friends, and filled the studio with laughter and creativity. 💜 Halloween week is one of our favorite DDS traditions — a chance to change up our regular routines, add a festive twist to technique and combos, and watch dancers bond, laugh, and show off their silly, creative sides.

 

We saw it all this year — LOTS of Minions, K-Pop demon hunters, Disney princesses, BBQ dads, every soda brand imaginable, plus the Lorax and Truffula Trees! The joy, imagination, and energy in every class reminded us why we love our DDS family so much. Thank you for bringing your spirit, smiles, and sparkle — you made this Halloween week one to remember! 👻🩰

DANCE COMPANY FALL PERFORMANCES!

LUX 2025 RECAP

LUX 2025 was truly one for the books! Our dancers spent the weekend learning, growing, and shining on stage while creating memories to last a lifetime. We were so happy to welcome DJ and the LUX team back for their 9th year at DDS — they’ve become part of our extended dance family, watching our dancers grow up and cheering them on year after year. 💛

 

This year was extra special with a full-circle moment: DDS alumna Daisy McMillen returned as a new LUX faculty member! Daisy is now dancing professionally in Los Angeles with the LA Jazz Company, performing and teaching in the LA salsa scene, and continuing to inspire everyone she meets. We are so proud of her and loved watching her encourage and energize the next generation of DDS dancers.

 

Thank you to all the families who supported and celebrated with us — weekends like this remind us what makes our community so special. #DDSProud 💫

LADM - March 2026

We’re excited to announce that Dixon Dance Studio will once again be attending LA Dance Magic (LADM) in Santa Clara, March 13–15, 2026!

 

LADM is a weekend-long dance convention open to dancers ages 4 and up — a unique opportunity for dancers of all levels to learn from industry professionals in a variety of styles. Participants will work on technique, performance presence, and stage skills while having a blast with their fellow dancers.

 

This convention also kicks off our competition season, so it’s a fantastic way to prepare and get inspired for the year ahead!

🍂 Thanksgiving Break 🦃

Dixon Dance Studio will be closed November 24–30 for Thanksgiving Break. We hope you enjoy this time with your loved ones, filled with gratitude, laughter, and maybe even a little dancing around the kitchen!

✨ Alumni Spotlight: Tori Purcell ✨

Tori danced at DDS from 2010–2022, and she truly did it all — tap, jazz, ballet, hip hop, pointe, heels, acro, musical theater, contemporary… you name it! 💃 She loved every moment, especially performing with her team at competitions and attending LADM each year. “I loved performing on a competitive level and making memories with my team,” Tori shared.

 

Dance has always been her passion and taught her so much about teamwork, organization, and finding a creative outlet. Today, Tori brings that same energy to college life as President of Full-Out, a hip-hop and jazz club at Cal State Fullerton, while pursuing her BSN in Nursing and working as a nursing assistant. 🌟

 

Tori says she’s most proud of almost finishing nursing school while maintaining a 3.5+ GPA, making incredible memories, and gaining lifelong friendships. Her advice for current DDS dancers? 💡

 

“Miss Amy’s toolbox reference has stuck with me: no matter what style of dance you’re doing, you can always take something from it and put it in your dance toolbox. I still use that in life — at work, school, or in my clubs, I can always pull from the lessons I’ve learned so far.”
