(The soul-level bond we share with animals—and each other)
If you’ve ever shared a soul connection with an animal—or found yourself rescuing a living being—you know it’s never just a coincidence. It’s soul work.
In my book Nature Speaks: Conversations with Pets and Wildlife, I share how real communication with animals, plants, and even water is possible. Not symbolic—real. And it all starts with connection.
One of the conversations I remember vividly started with a friend taking me to a barn. Dr. Ruth recalls: We were at Mike’s stable, and there was a little pony, a hackney (the kind that pulls carts) with a lot of knee action. He was a world champion but wouldn’t move right. Nancy looked at him and asked, “Where is your foot most comfortable?”
That is one of many moments I share in the book. It is because it's friends like Dr, Ruth and Amanda Borghese that I have been able to enrich my own life for their recollections and their love of animals,
Some people call it a soul reading. But for me, it’s more like soul reaching—my soul gently meeting the soul of another, with permission. Animals, especially, have so much to teach us about presence, empathy, and unconditional love.
When I revisited my earlier book All Nature Speaks, something nudged me: I’d left out an important chapter—rescues. Many of us have taken in a dog, a cat, a bird… even a plant that needed help. That kind of connection often begins in fear—but it blossoms in healing.
That realization led me to revise the book completely. I gave it a new name, a new ISBN, and a new heart: Nature Speaks.
One of the stories that stayed with me came from Prince Lorenzo Borghese:
“After The Bachelor in 2016,” he shared, “I was invited to several animal rescue charity events in New York. That’s where the spark ignited.”
That spark led him to co-found Animal Aid USA, a 100% volunteer nonprofit that’s rescued over 45,000 dogs.
His mother, Amanda Borghese, has a heart just as big.
“Our home,” she told me, “was lovingly nicknamed Noah’s Ark. Maybe not two of every animal, but certainly one of nearly everything.”
I met Amanda through Interweave in Summit, NJ, where I was teaching spiritual classes. Later, she invited me to her home for a psychic workshop—that’s where I met Todd, whose energy radiated joy, empathy, and curiosity. Todd and Amanda connected through HSN, where Amanda sells her products and Todd worked with jewelry brands. Their shared passion for the metaphysical world created a deep friendship.
The bonds we form—with humans, animals, and nature—are sacred. I keep a little space on my desk for that remembrance: a photo of my first feline friend, Sweetie Pi.
Do you have a sacred space? It doesn’t have to be big. A journal, a pen, a photo. I love writing letters to those on the other side—cats and dogs, a raccoon and skunk who once lived with us, horses I worked with. They all remind me: the connection never ends.
We never forget the souls who meet us, soul-to-soul. And like the animals we rescue—or who rescue us—these moments remind us we’re all part of something greater. One living, communicating whole.
For You: The Soul Rescuers & Listeners
If you’ve ever spoken silently to your dog and felt understood...
If you’ve ever heard a tree or river whisper back…
If you’ve ever rescued something with fur, feathers, leaves—or light...
Then you already know: Nature speaks. The soul reaches. And connection is everything.
Love,
Nancy
