FLORAL COLLAGE
with DANA McCLURE
Sunday, October 5th | 11–3pm | $175
Limited Seats | Lunch Served

Join me this Sunday,
Hi Everyone – This is the perfect time of year to gather under the tent for an afternoon of art-making. Our last collage workshop was such a joy — with an incredible mix of participants: established artists, writers, therapists, and even a few doctors! I’m always amazed by what unfolds when we create side by side — unexpected discoveries, new ways of seeing, and genuine connections made through the act of making.
As we reach the tail end of our flower harvest, we’ll be using our early October blooms as inspiration for a session in floral abstraction through painting and collage. I’ll be guiding you through a process drawn from my own mixed media series Draw the Line — an exploration of what happens when structured planning meets intuitive play.

Workshop details below…

WHAT TO EXPECT

Gather in a relaxed, focused space of observation and creation in this hands-on workshop inspired by the shapes and colors of fresh flowers.

We'll begin by slowing down and truly seeing—surrounded by fresh blooms, you’ll create a series of contour line drawings that translate the delicate complexity of floral elements into gestural sketches. Through layering and distillation, you'll refine your observations into a bold, abstract composition.

With nature as a guide, you’ll then develop a color palette, exploring the emotional and expressive qualities of hue, saturation and value. Next, we’ll experiment with painting and collage, using photographic textures to bring tactility and materiality to your work. You'll cut, layer, and assemble your piece, guided by both intuition and formal design principles– like balance, contrast and hierarchy.

The session concludes with a group critique and conversation—an open, supportive space to reflect on the creative process, examining the dance between spontaneity and structure, instinct and intention. This workshop is open to all levels—artists, designers, floral-lovers, and curious beginners. All materials provided. Just bring your hands, your presence and a willingness to explore.
