Celebrating National Adult Education and Family Literacy Week with Spirit Week
This month, Aspire joined the nationwide celebration of National Adult Education and Family Literacy Week with our annual Spirit Week!

This week is about more than fun outfits; it is about raising awareness of the importance of adult education and celebrating the community we are building together. This semester, Aspire is serving more than 800 ESL students across our programs. In a community this large, it can feel overwhelming to step into a classroom full of strangers. Spirit Week provides students with the opportunity to turn new faces into new friends.

Each day carried a theme across our ESL locations:
  • Monday was Tourist Day, where students and staff wore their best tropical shirts and sun hats.
  • Tuesday was Crazy Clothes Day, where everyone wore their wildest combinations of patterns, colors, and backwards clothing.
  • Wednesday was Hat Day, allowing participants to express their individuality and creativity.
  • Thursday was Sports Day, where everyone showcased their favorite sports teams and celebrated the spirit of teamwork and cooperation.
Learning is not just about acquiring new skills; it’s also about finding a sense of belonging and encouragement along the way.

Closing September with Gratitude and Purpose

We are grateful for the generosity shown by the Aspire community on North Texas Giving Day. Every gift and every act of support move our mission forward and strengthen the foundation we are building together.

As September and National Literacy Month come to a close, it’s worth remembering that literacy is not just our mission at Aspire; it is the foundation of opportunity in everyday life. From reading a bedtime story to your child to filling out a job application or navigating healthcare, literacy opens doors and creates opportunities.

Your support, whether through a donation or simply spreading the word, helps maintain momentum for Aspire students as they work toward their goals.

Together, we are building a community where literacy is not a barrier but a bridge. Thank you for joining us in this important work and for standing with Aspire this month and always.
