Â
At Christmas, I keep the lid off and use it like a pot on the saute function to make
my soup and keep it warm in real time (instead of slow cook at 6 or 8 hours), which frees up room on my cooker top for getting on with other bits of cooking.
Â
At new year or anytime in the winter really I use it to heat and keep
mulled wine or cider warm, so people can help themselves and ladle themselves a mugful of warm spiced drink.Â
Â
To be honest though, if you don't have one just buy what you fancy that matches how many portions you need and to match your budget.
Â
They all pretty much do the same job, so a cheap one picked up in a charity shop/thrift store is just as good.

Today I'm sharing 5 of my favourite slow cooker recipes, but you can find them all on my
slow cooker page on Tinned Tomatoes and it's a good page to bookmark/save as I add new recipes to it as I create them.
