Hi First name / Slothies!
Happy spooky season to those who celebrate! 🎃
It’s officially October—fall, cozy vibes, and the perfect time to slow down and tell stories.
Today also happens to be my wedding anniversary, and I’m celebrating completely offline—no Wi-Fi, no cell service, just me, my husband, Lando, and the woods. Some would call that scary and the opening scene of a horror movie, and to them I say… I have something even scarier for you.
Not sharing your talents with others because you don’t have time, energy, or know what to say.
That’s scarier.
You’ve got amazing ideas, expertise, and tons of ways to help others, but no one is going to hear about it because of the false narratives in your head telling you it’s not good enough.
Nightmare fuel!
As a marketer, I often see this from clients, fellow business owners, and friends. Call it a self-esteem issue or just the weight of the mental load, but either way—we can’t keep blocking opportunity because of it.
So here is what I recommend as your marketing bestie: when you’re short on time, ideas, or just don’t know how to move forward.
Repurpose content that already exists!
What does that mean?
That email, that blog, that zoom call, that client deliverable, that text exchange with the bestie… use it to tell the same story a different way.
This entire newsletter is a perfect example of how to do that—today’s blog feature is a presentation I gave a week ago, my biz spotlight is the same as last issue (with a twist. let's see if you spot it.), and my obsessions were born from silly photos and group chats with my gal pals.
Everything you touch and experience is part of YOUR story.
Your story is what sets you apart from others, it’s what is guaranteed to be different from other brands and people in your industry. Additionally, as humans we love stories! We are social creatures that seek out connection and belonging. Stories have always been our means to accomplish that.
So do not hide that.
Sure, you don’t have to spill all the tea and overshare (unless you’re into that and it works for your brand), but you can sprinkle pieces of yourself into how you present yourself in your career and ultimately how you market yourself.
If you don’t, you blend in with the crowd, no one knows you exist… and you basically become a ghost. 👻 Now that’s scary stuff.
So do us all a favor and share your point of view, expertise, and experiences. We're all dying to hear them!
You’ve got this—on your side always! 🦥💛
XOXO,
Renee
