This month, as we honor International Day of the Girl, we’re celebrating the resilience and creativity of girls across Mexico’s borders and beyond. Thanks to your solidarity, more girls are learning, playing, and caring for themselves with safety and dignity.
🚰WASH + Shelter
Tapachula: At the Belén Shelter, despite heavy rains slowing construction, the shelter's new perimeter fence is nearly complete—another step towards safety and stability.
Reynosa: At Escuela La Cruz, five new bathroom stalls, a 2,500-liter rooftop water tank, concrete courtyard, shade structure, and a playground are supporting daily operations for the 55 students and staff.
🌸Women's health + safety
Meet Karely, Reynosa’s first-ever Community Health Promoter! She’s leading menstrual-health workshops, restocking pad dispensers, and showing girls that caring for their bodies is a source of strength, not shame.
Together with Save the Children Mexico, we’ve distributed 324 packs of feminine pads and launched a new partnership to expand workshops and materials across local shelters.
Meet Lara, a 2025 practicum student turned Jordan Project Manager, now distributing hygiene kits and assessing needs at two shelters in her home country.
Earlier this month, Lara was joined in the field by Erin (our Executive Director!), connecting with local partners and witnessing firsthand how Solidarity’s women-led approach is inspiring change far beyond the US-Mexico border.
At the Senda 1 Park, our team continues building handmade play structures using local materials—each pole climber and rope bridge is a step toward safe, joyful play for kids from nearby shelters and the local community.
At Colegio La Cruz, new play equipment and STEM supplies are ready to spark learning and imagination.
While STEM classes are on pause, we’re keeping creativity alive with a little Halloween DIY magic: 🎃 Made for Make-Believe — a treasure trove of easy, no-sew costume ideas. Because every kid deserves to be whoever they imagine.
Every fence finished, every light switched on, every kit delivered is part of something bigger, a growing network of safety and hope powered by your solidarity.
Thank you for being part of it.

P.S. Solidarity turns five in November! Our birthday party planning committee is officially in motion—stay tuned for ways to celebrate with us in the months ahead.
