Hi First name,

Today is my birthday!
..don't worry…I pre-wrote this so when you get it, I'll either be blissfully brunching in my favorite cafe, going to a museum, drawing, or shopping for my next read.

Since birthdays are for reflection, and travel is how I process most things, I thought it’d be fun to share a cosmic way to choose where to go next: astrocartography.

Astro what? Like astrology, but with a map.

Ever noticed how some places feel instantly good, and others never quite click? Some are grounding and calm; others spark energy, focus, and movement. Astrocartography maps your birth chart across the globe and shows where different parts of your personality shine.

It gives that intuition a language. Some places nurture you, others challenge or expand you.

If you buy into it, it’s a reminder that where we go matters just as much as how we go.

Read on below, First name / friend, for how it works, a look at my own b-day map, and how I'd put it into practice for a milestone creeping closer each year.

HOW IT WORKS
The Simple Version
Like the astrology chart you may be familiar with, each planet rules a different part of who we are. The Moon speaks to comfort and home, Venus to love and connection, Jupiter to joy and expansion, and the Sun to vitality and confidence.

In astrocartography, the planets are represented by lines laid out across the globe.
When those lines fall through certain destinations, and even more so when they cross one another, their energy can feel amplified. So naturally, you may want to visit those areas for a particular type of trip.

Let’s say you’re looking for the right place for your next trip. You could start with your intention: Are you looking for rest, a fun trip with the girls, a place to get ahead on that book you’ve been writing, or a honeymoon? Then look for the lines that would facilitate that and see where they are on your map.

I’m heavily simplifying this, and there’s so much you can dig deeper into on the topic, but it doesn’t have to be overly complex, especially if you’re doing it for fun.

For me, turning fifty in a few years will call for a trip that feels like home, a celebration, and a place that I'm at my best with familial relationships all at once… something grounding and joyful, surrounded by people I love.

MY BIRTHDAY MAP
And How I'd Use it to create my family Trip

For a family trip, I look at the IC lines for home and family.

My Sun IC line passes through Montana and Wyoming, which is perfect for a warm, open-hearted gathering. My focus is centered on family and roots on this line. A week at The Ranch at Rock Creek or bonus points where my Sun and Jupiter lines cross literally on top of One&Only's Moonlight Basin Resort. I picture my city boys playing in nature, getting dirty, friends around long tables, me having some amazing spa treatments, mornings on horseback, archery, and nights that smell like woodsmoke and sage over whisky and tea.

My Moon IC line runs through Provence, where life feels nurturing and close bonds with relatives grow. I’d pick Crillon le Brave or Capelongue, two gorgeous properties perfect for families and so easy on the eyes. Think historic restorations, lavender fields, swims in the creek, gentle bike rides to medieval villages, long lunches under the trees, outdoor cinema, lawn games, and a calm that makes everyone feel close. I’m super excited to see this one on my chart, if you can't tell.

My Jupiter IC falls over central Japan. This line is all about growth, expansion, and new experiences. I can imagine weeks of exploration, temples, trains, gardens… and the food! Seeing my kids experience Japan and doing it together would be unforgettable. I’d mix in stays at Six Senses Kyoto (phenomenal kid program, history, city, and wellness all perfectly packaged), Beniya Mukayu Ryokan, and to top it off, I'd go big with  Aman Tokyo.

There are many lines and crossings you can explore, but I’m feeling good about the start for my family-and-fifty getaway ideas. If you’re curious, I used Astroline for my chart. It’s both beautiful and comprehensive, and I highly recommend it.

Whether or not you believe the stars have a say, astrocartography is a fascinating lens for understanding why some places call to you more than others and can be a lot of fun in sorting out your future travel destinations.

If you’re planning a milestone trip, or just want to see what the map says about where you should go, let’s explore it together!
P.S. If you would like to book one of the hotels above, let me know and I can handle it … and swing you my priority perks like complimentary upgrades, spa and restaurant vouchers, and lovely arrival gifts while I’m at it. It's a complimentary service. 🌟
