Happy new moon First name / sweet human,

As you may already know, I write these letters on the new moon, usually without a plan or an agenda. Sometimes that works out well and other times, not a lot comes through. Today seems to be one of the latter. We'll see how this goes…

What I can tell you is that only a few very large, very magnificent orb weavers remain in my backyard, and that an abandoned web outside my window is glistening, iridescent, in the sun.

I can tell you that I just learned what cyclamen is, and that it’s growing in little tufts of pink beneath blazing red and yellow maples all around my neighborhood.

I can tell you, too, that there are somehow only three new moons left this year (this being one of them), and that I keep thinking about how to balance the whirlwind of the holidays with the simple desire to make soup and snuggle my dogs. You too?

And I can tell you that I'm working on three new illustrations, all of which are going very, very slowly. Two were meant for Halloween, and… they’re probably not going to be done by Halloween. While I wish I had some finished pieces to share with you today, sometimes it’s nice to see a little work-in-progress (above and below), yes?

And, being that I'm also a small business, I should probably tell you that I made some very cute new stickers that are now in the shop along with a brand new, super cozy bunny afghan (the afghan is truly lovely - jacquard woven with deliciously thick yarn, reversible and made out of 100% cotton in North Carolina).

The stickers include two separate bunny stickers that are meant to be a pair (though you can pick a favorite - I won't mind), a Mary Shelley design with one of her quotes and, finally, a butterfly with the words “Small Joys Sustain Us” on a ribbon sash…because it continues to be a good and true reminder.

Lastly, I can tell you thank you. For being here. For reading. For supporting me, my off-the-cuff writing and my art. I appreciate you very much and am wishing you countless bright lights as we settle into the dark of fall and winter.

Until the next new moon,

Natalie
