The other day I noticed mushrooms growing in my monstera. They were kinda cute.
But after a few days, the cute little mushrooms were fucking huge and stealing the plant's resources. Now, why am I on about mushrooms? Because your business can sprout resource stealers, too. Easily. And quickly. Just like mushrooms, they look harmless, but they’re suffocating your business. What's the answer? “Simplicity, my dear Watson.” And that's what we're talking about today. |
|
TLDR on Simplicity - If your business is too complicated, it can't grow
- If you want sustainability, let alone scalability, SIMPLIFY.
- Do one thing really well before adding more shiny ideas
- Stockpile big ideas and market with intention
- 5 S method and free resource for repurposing content

Simplicity Simplicity doesn't sound sexy does it? Well… - Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication." - Leonardo da Vinci
- "Simplicity is the keynote of all true elegance." - Coco Chanel
- "There is no greatness where there is not simplicity, goodness, and truth." - Leo Tolstoy
Maybe simplicity is sexier than you think. |

Why Simplicity Matters You're a multi-passionate, idea-generating machine.
If you don't make a practice of simplicity, you'll be up to your ass in alligators before you know it.
Suddenly, you're on 6 social media platforms with 17 customizable offers and it takes forever to do anything. It sneaks up on you, too…
A client asks for something that’s slightly out of the project scope.
You think, I can do that. So you do. Now, you're curating offers for each client. You worry they won't work with you if you don't! And you don't want to miss any potential clients or opportunities… So you're on multiple marketing channels Chasing every idea you have Hosting a 19-page website It's too many and too much.
The hard truth is… Your business isn't growing, it's just spreading.
For success and scalability, simplicity is the key. |
|
But isn't simplicity…. (cue dramatic music) boring? |
|
Yeah, maybe.
And I know that's horrifying; boredom gives me the vapors, too. But… So f*cking what? |
|
Think about it this way… A simple business runs smoother so you can spend less time in it. In other words, you get more time to do non-boring sh*t. And because you're not creating everything from scratch, you actually have enough energy to enjoy it! Plus, complicated doesn't scale. The simpler your business is, the higher the income possibility. More money to do non-boring sh*t. More time, energy, and money? Well. Maybe boring isn't all that bad—but how do you get there? |
|
First things first…ADHD ideas multiply faster than bunnies. And it's one of the biggest benefits of your brain. Hooray! And talk about a dopamine rush!!! You get a new idea and you're off to the races.
Like, if you don't chase shiny ideas, do you even have ADHD?? But the constant chase isn't sustainable. When you're always running after shiny shit, the business mushrooms start brewing. I know you love the idea. I know it looks sexy. I know, I know. Me, too. But have you ever seen a dog skid across hard wood and crash face first into the wall? That's most ADHDers with a shiny new idea. You gotta check yourself before you wreck yourself. You can still benefit from your ideas without derailing your progress, though. All it takes is a little strategy. |

Try the 5 S Ideas Method 1) Save
Create an idea parking lot, or one place to hold all your new ideas. Now, if you're like me, you jot down ideas on post-its, random Google docs, and Notion pages. No worries. Once a week transfer them all to one place. Don't skip this part. It can take a little time, but it takes a lot more time to find notes later when they're scattered from here to hell. 2) Sort Once a month, revisit all the parking lot ideas and sort into scrap, stall, share. 3) Scrap Toss any ideas that've lost their shine or sound batshit nuts. 4) Stall Hold onto the ideas you still love but the timing isn't right. 5) Share If you love an idea and have the bandwidth, try to incorporate it into something you already have or stack it on another offer. Remember: that one sexy new idea isn't going to fix everything. And even if it could —it'll still be there in a week. |

The next step is to streamline and simplify your marketing. It seems counterintuitive; but when you're everywhere, you're nowhere. More isn't better, I promise—one platform is fine. Never half-ass two things. Whole-ass one thing. -Ron Swanson Besides, you're a team of one, calm down. If you want sustainble marketing that gains traction, try: - Main channel or truth source
- One repurpose platform

Here's What Mine Looks Like Main Channel: newsletter Repurpose: LinkedIn occasionally a blog) How it Works: - I write a biweekly newsletter
- leading to my website and offers
- I repurpose bits for LinkedIn
- which leads back to the newsletter
- back to my website and offers
The idea is creating a golden thread or through line through your content that leads back to you. Repurpose: Once you have your main content, toss it around like confetti. I mean it. Repost, recycle, reuse. Stretch that shit like gumby.
Free Resource: repurposing your content like a pro ⬇️⬇️⬇️ |
|
FYI: Bonus Nugget
I recently learned about repurposing blog articles on Linkedin. Although LinkedIn article engagement is balls, it improves your AI search results.
How that works: LinkedIn has a high authority rating on Google so your content appears higher in the SERP. It doesn't get flagged for duplicate content either.
Let me know if you try it out! |

That's It for Now… Next time we'll talk about simplifying your offers, setting boundaries, and how to stop people-pleasing (dun dun!)
|
|
I'll see you soon. Until then… |
