Since 2007, our mission at Charlotte New Music has been to build meaningful spaces where music is created & experienced together. This newsletter exists so we can share what's happening in the music-creator community, find out who's doing what where, & give you insight into a whole creative world. |

Our nonprofit organization (Charlotte New Music) was actually founded in 2007 as a prison music ministry. I used to go with my dad and play music, while he shared and held space with prisoners in Mount Pleasant and surrounding areas. I eventually went to college for music and pursued a degree in Piano, then a master's in Music Composition. Our initiative gradually evolved into the necessary platform for music creators that you've come to know since 2011 & into today. Full circle moment: As of next week, I'll begin the gradual process of bringing music back into the prisons and I'm excited to share how that develops. It's in the early stage, but it's been on our radar as an area of focus (especially during the pandemic) along with children's homes, and hospitals/senior facilities. If you'd like to be involved or support, please fill out our volunteer form, or donate here. The world absolutely needs more of what we do. The art we create can be transformative. Especially in these times of division, isolation, & communication shifts. There is so much work to do if we are going to be part of the changes that we wish to see in our communities and the world. Interested in collaborating with us to host a House Concert? Just reply to this email to let us know! We’re always looking for welcoming homes and spaces where people can gather and connect through music. You don’t need a stage or a fancy setup - just the space & a willingness to bring an intimate group of people together. It’s a rewarding way to support independent artists, bring art to the people, and strengthen Charlotte’s creative community! |
