If you guessed Procreate, you're right! I was able to whip these texture-ific drawings up on the iPad from my couch! I always like to add a paper texture background after the fact so that my illustrations look more like they were hand-drawn on real paper. Those little details make all the difference!
I recently got a question in
The CatCoq Collective about why I design in Procreate when there are limited canvas sizes.
Short answer? Because I like the interface and I'm used to it. I rarely actually design in vector softwares.
I draw in Procreate since it feels natural, and then if I need to polish up the art (like creating multiple color alts) or arrange it into a seamless pattern, I take it into Photoshop.
One of the most common misconceptions about getting your work professionally licensed is that you have to create vector artwork. But as long as your raster files are high-res enough, you can use whatever medium works best for you!
Here are some helpful blog articles I've written about how to make professional-level artwork even if you're using a raster software like Procreate or Photoshop.
