Not by might, nor by power, but by My Spirit, says the Lord Almighty.
Zechariah 4:6
Hi First name / friend,

If I had to sum up what idea or theme spoke to me the most in October it was to Believe Different.  Through conversations about healing, and changing the way we speak to ourselves, or praying God's promises over our lives, or reading Mark Batterson's book, Gradually then Suddenly, or as the Holy Spirit shifted my own heart, I was reminded over and over again that so many of us believe God can do miralces but we many not believe that HE will do it in or for Us.  We have forgetten and need to be reminded that when we truly believe God for His promises, blessings and miracles and when we act in faith- He moves. Not always in our timeline but He moves.

I interviewed Pastor Ed Newton this week about his new book called Why Not You, and in it he says, “the same power that raised Jesus from the dead lives in you…. Yet many Christian operate with NO power…. We either grieve or quench the Holy Spirit."

But this is what I heard, read, listened to all month- When believers began to believe God for the miracle, the promise, the healing; or heard the truth of what God says about each one of us and believes what He has for each one of us- when we believed God in the midst of our heartbreak or problem- God answered in mighty ways.  People were divinely healed,  People were saved.  Chains were broken from depression, drugs, and despair. When we are at the point of surrender to stop operating within our context and control and give our unbelief or doubt to Him- He moves.  Sometimes it happens in an instant and other times it happens over time- either way- He is working and moving when we Believe Him for the breakthrough.

I hope the podcast episodes coming out over the next two months help you grow your belief.  My hope is summed up nicely by what Pastor Ed says in his book, “the moment you beign to walk in that power, the moment you start walking in your purpose and decide you will not be defined by your past, the moment you understand that your future has been written and it's what God has always wanted for your life, that is the moment your life goes to new levels.”

A Thought on Halloween

"What if the most spiritual thing you can do this Halloween, is turn your light on."
That quote is from Pastor Ian Simkin.  He has a fantastic post about how we can show up on Halloween and be the light in the world on a night than can often been a symbol of darkness- read for post here.

We're often drawn to the spectacular, but God often works in the ordinary.  Loving one person well may be the holiest work we do.
Pastor Ian Simkin
