Exploring Effective Mitigation Measures and Drivers of Structure Loss in California’s WUI

In this talk, Dr. Michael Gollner (Associate Professor and Deb Faculty Fellow at UC Berkeley) will give an overview of the pathways to fire spread in the WUI, including embers, direct flame contact and radiation. 

 

Explore the mitigation measures available, such as home hardening and defensible space, and the evidence justifying these practices to reduce structure losses.

The Resilerator™

This 10-week course is for farmers, ranchers, and fishers who are ready to evaluate and improve the health and resilience of their agricultural business. The Resilerator is like a business accelerator, but the emphasis is on developing long-term sustainability and resilience rather than sprinting toward short-term profits.

Pine Count Foundation Foodways Micro-Grant

The PCF Micro-Grant program seeks to support those pursuing long-term careers in agriculture, ranching, fishing, and aquaculture.

 

Seed Grant for QTBIPOC Urban Farmers in the Bay Area

This opportunity supports one-year projects that grow food, fiber, or medicine for community nourishment as funded by the CDFA (California Department of Food and Agriculture) Urban Agriculture Grant Program.

 

Applications are accepted in both English and Spanish.

 

Farmer/Rancher Research & Education Grant Program

This grant focuses on advancing on-farm sustainability solutions by funding innovative producer-driven research and outreach. This grant program involves agricultural producers (main applicants) and technical advisor(s) implementing projects to address identified needs in sustainable agriculture.

UC SAREP Small Grants Program

UC SAREP is interested in projects that build the capacity of farming and food systems businesses and organizations to become reflective, adaptive learning organizations that can respond effectively to ecological, economic, and social change and disruption.
