We had a very different greeting planned for this month's newsletter, as we prepared to kick off the last months of the year. Our team is working to ensure our core programs continue to feed the need across Rhode Island, but we needed to address the current environment we find ourselves – along with hundreds of other nonprofits – in. Our growing community allows us to operate without reliance on government funding. Because of that, we can pivot and move in the direction the needs of our neighbors take us.
In just 72 hours, our generous community has enabled our team and incredible network to mobilize faster than ever to respond to what’s shaping up to be a significant crisis for more than 140,000 Rhode Islanders facing disruption to SNAP benefits.
Hundreds of meals and Hope Chest restocks of shelf-stable groceries have been coordinated for families, seniors, and individuals who depend on our support. Thanks to hundreds of donations, shares, amazon wish list orders, and drop-offs, help is reaching neighbors in real time — proving that when our community comes together, we move mountains.
Please consider supporting the important work that still needs to be done. No act of kindness is too big or too small – and 100% of your donation will be used to get much needed food into the hands of our most vulnerable neighbors.
Together, we can ensure no one faces hunger alone — not this weekend, not ever!
