Hi First name / there, Every January, we are told to start fresh. But real health is not a calendar event. It is the quiet, daily rhythm you build when no one is watching. It is the walk you take instead of another scroll, the meal you cook because tomorrow matters, the early bedtime that supports your hormones more than any supplement ever could. Here is the truth. Your body does not need punishment or perfection. It needs partnership. When you listen to it, nourish it, and rest it, your physiology responds in kind. Blood sugar steadies. Energy rises. Mood lifts. Lifestyle medicine may be simple in theory, but living it is an art shaped by small, consistent choices that become your foundation. And as the holidays wrap you in warmth, gatherings, and maybe a little chaos, remember that renewal does not wait for the ball to drop. It is already here in the meals you savor, the people you love, and the moments you choose to slow down. As we step into 2026, I have been reflecting on something meaningful. It has officially been one full year in our new office space, and what a year it has been. The practice is thriving in ways I once only hoped for, and that is entirely because of the community we have built together. Your trust, your engagement in your own health, and your belief in a model of care that puts you first have shaped this practice into something truly special. I am deeply grateful. With such a full and fulfilling year behind us, we will be taking a two week break at the end of January to rest and reset. Current patients will still have access and will be able to reach me as needed, but if you would like to schedule an appointment or touch base beforehand, now is a great time to get it on the books. Thank you again for making this first year in our space such a meaningful one. Here is to another year of health, clarity, and grounded momentum together. |

Where obesity medicine is headed |
|
You may be seeing headlines about newer obesity medications in development, including retatrutide, an investigational drug from Eli Lilly. Retatrutide targets three hormonal pathways involved in weight regulation: GLP-1, GIP, and glucagon. In a phase 2 trial published in The New England Journal of Medicine, adults with obesity lost up to ~24% of body weight over 48 weeks, exceeding results seen with current therapies. More recent phase 3 data released by Lilly showed nearly 29% average weight loss at 68 weeks in people with obesity and knee osteoarthritis, along with improvements in pain and physical function. Higher doses were also associated with more gastrointestinal side effects and higher discontinuation rates. The takeaway isn’t that everyone needs stronger medication. It’s that obesity is a neurohormonal disease, and as treatments become more potent, how they’re prescribed matters more. Individualized dosing, attention to muscle preservation, and ongoing metabolic monitoring are what determine whether weight loss improves health long term. |

01. A life well lived is medicine |
|
The fundamentals of health haven’t changed. What has changed is how disconnected many people have become from them. We rush, skip meals, stay up late, and call it normal. Then we wonder why energy, focus, and metabolism fade. The solution isn’t more willpower. It is returning to the basics that support the body’s natural balance. Eat real food at regular times. Move often enough to feel your breath deepen. Protect sleep like it is therapy. Spend time with people who make you laugh. These habits regulate hormones, improve glucose control, and lower inflammation. When these patterns are in place, the body starts to cooperate again. Hunger cues make sense. Moods even out. Weight stabilizes. Blood sugar responds. It is not magic. It is physiology working the way it is meant to. That is what a well-lived life looks like in practice: ordinary habits that quietly do extraordinary things for your health. |
