Fog and fatigue.
That experience when focus seems to elude and confusion hijacks how we think, make decisions, where we put our energy that is already in low supply.
Because the fog eventually results in fatigue.
Fog creates a sense of disorientation.
It leaves us uncertain and vulnerable.
Fog can slowly roll in or can take over the horizon within minutes.
The question is, what do we do when we are in the midst of the fog, in the space of uncertainty.
We crave clarity but often don't take the time to let it emerge.
We simply keep pushing forward.
Paddling through the fog. Hoping if we try hard enough, we will get beyond the fog, when in reality we waste valuable energy turning in circles, no closer to a clearer horizon.
Fog can be lots of things.
-Lack of clear and consistent boundaries and a relationship.
-Lack of purpose in our life.
-Unexpected or pending change that creates uncertainty.
-Lack of belief that we can influence environments and experiences around us.
-It can be chasing the next shiny thing believing it’s going to create some sort of soul satisfaction.
-It can be inviting too much media into your mind.
It results in fatigue. Mental, emotional, physical and spiritual exhaustion.
Clearing the fog decreases fatigue and allows us to see possibilities with a bit more clarity.
There’s an old word I love:
[respair] hope after a period of despair.
For me, it accurately describes when the fog starts to lift. The heaviness starts to become lighter. And clarity starts to emerge, even while still experiencing uncertainty.
What might you be craving clarity on?
How might you be unintentionally inviting fog to linger and create confusion on direction during uncertainly?
There’s space at my table to explore how to transform the fog and fatigue into clarity and courage for next steps.
