We hope you're as excited as us about running together in Glenridding this coming weekend.
Please read on for important information to make your day as stress-free and enjoyable as possible.
Plan your route and allow extra time if you are driving
A592 - Kirkstone Pass closed due to a landslide
If you're travelling by car from the south, please plan your route in advance as this road would likely be the one you'd travel on.
It is possible to travel to Ambleside and go up The Struggle to the top of the Pass and then down into Glenridding but this is not suitable for large vehicles as it is narrow and twisty.
Please note there are also traffic lights in the village and remember it's cash only if you use the King George V Playing fields with no free parking.
On SATURDAY ONLY, please consider using shuttle buses due to lack of parking
We have arranged luxury shuttle coaches from Penrith for the 15k Trail Challenge and 15k Trail Race. There should be sufficient parking in the village for the 5k and 10k in the morning but if you got the first bus, we'd get you registered!
The Park & Ride will leave from outside
Queen Elizabeth Grammar School, Park Road, Penrith CA11 7EF using Reay’s coaches to get you to Glenridding in about 20 minutes. This is just off the main Ullswater Road which leads into Penrith from the motorway / A66. For a more precise location, follow
THIS LINK.
Please first use the available
public car parking in Penrith, or even use the train or public transport to get to Penrith Railway Station.
There is a limited amount of Pay & Display car parking in Glenridding for those bringing families and spectators. Alternatively, there are
scheduled bus services to Glenridding. Please keep checking the event website for any last minute information and make sure you bring suitable clothing.
Coaches will leave Penrith at 10.00am, 10.30am, 11.30am, 12pm and 12.30pm
Return coaches will leave Greenside Road in Glenridding (where you got dropped off), returning to Penrith from 3pm when full with the last coach leaving at 4.30pm.
SUNDAY
There will be NO shuttle buses as it is a smaller event and there will be enough parking in the village
Compulsory Kit for Ullswater (also advised for Helvellyn) - hat/Buff, gloves, waterproof jacket, long leggings or overtrousers. You will not be allowed to board the Steamers without the kit.
Ullswater Fancy Dress
Remember to get thinking about your outfit for the Ullswater Trails on the Sunday. Our Fancy Dress theme is ‘Historical Figures' and we'll have some great prizes for those of you who make the effort!
