Hi First name / Slothies!
Â
This past weekend I did something that felt both indulgent and totally necessary: I hired a cleaning service to deep-clean our house ahead of Thanksgiving. I’m about to be in the mountains for a week, holiday planning has officially begun, and the more I thought about it, the more I realized:Â
Â
yes, I could do it all myself — but would I want to?Â
Â
Would I feel calm and ready for the season?Â
Â
The answer was no.
Â
It reminded me that sometimes, the things we label as “extra” or “indulgent” are actually the smartest choices we can make. Investing in a little help doesn’t just clear your home — it clears your head. And honestly, this small act has already shifted how I’m approaching the holidays.Â
Â
I feel lighter, more in control, and way less frantic about what’s left to do.
Â
The book
Four Thousand Weeks has been reinforcing this mindset for me lately — that time is finite, and the real freedom comes from choosing how we spend it. The more real we are with ourselves about what we actually need, the easier it becomes to create space for ease.
Â
Because feeling overwhelmed usually happens because you’re overstimulated by your own procrastination and avoidance.Â
Read that again so it sinks in!Â
Putting off things and acting like they don't exist is what will send you spiraling. Because guess what —they don't just go away when you ignore them. They are still there, begging for your attention, and at some point, you'll have to deal with them.Â
Â
So be strategic about what you put off, and make sure it’s the stuff that doesn’t really matter in the grand scheme of things. Then, invest your energy and time in the things that matter and move you closer to where you actually want to be and have you saying “Wow, I get to do this today!” instead of “I have to do this today…”Â
Â
XOXO,
Renee
