Welcome back to Beyond the Tour where twice a month you'll receive practical tips and resources to help you get better at what you do.

Let's get started.

If You Do One Thing This Week:
1. 🦃 Happy Thanksgiving. And submit your paperwork.

Draft a Happy Thanksgiving* email to send to everyone in your funnel.
Spread some good cheer, and take the opportunity to remind them of upcoming due dates.

It's a win-win.

Your note to families can read something like this:

As we approach Thanksgiving, we have much to be thankful for.
- Excitement around learning every day
- The thrill of winning sports championships
- Watching our Rocketry Club soar into state championships

We can't wait for you to join us.

Please note the following upcoming due dates for your application materials…

*Note: The US Thanksgiving is coming up this month. If you are located elsewhere, draft the email this week, and schedule it to go out at the right time for your school community.

2 Tips to DO MORE:

2. 🍍 Teach hospitality.

For student visit day, assign each visiting student a host buddy.

Use this opportunity to review the basics of hospitality with that buddy. Meet with them in person a few days before the visit to talk through what to expect, how to be welcoming, and do your best to be a good host.

You'd be amazed at how a 15 minute conversation with students can make all the difference.

3. 👏🏼 Let's talk about retention.

Put every student in your school on a retention list. Every single one.

Having a full list of students helps you by:
A) Making sure you don't miss anyone;
B) Gives you perspective and context to find themes, and talk that parent off the ledge when they say "All the 3rd grade girls are leaving!"

Nope, not according to this data. And data cures hysteria.

How the experts see it

This is one of my favorite articles by Wes Kao. If you're in the business of needing to make a point, and quickly, these tips will be helpful for you. Start right before you get eaten by the bear. Trust me.

Read the article, and let me know what you think.
