Hi Muses.
It's officially holiday season! Darkness at 4:30 season. And, where did the year go?! season. For me, this time is always filled with a ton of emotions, but this year I'm leaning into being okay with the breadth of emotions I've experienced this year, and continue to experience daily.
Recently, and I mean within the last 2 weeks, Harmony has begun sleeping through the night. (Yay!!) That means this is the first time since I was pregnant (Think July 2024) that I've had evenings and nights to myself. This has made me hyperaware of how tired I am.
I’m worn out. I’m beyond worn out. What’s beyond that? Moms… help me out with the word. My body is tired, and emotionally, I’m drained. Throughout the year, I haven’t been able to dedicate time to museologie the way I envisioned back in January. 🤡 Given how I’ve been feeling—along with conversations I’ve had with other mamas (both new and veteran)—I’ve been taking a hard look at how I’m caring for myself and why I’ve been struggling so much.
Harmony is thriving—she’s walking, babbling, and recently started saying “mama.” I’ve been with her every. single. day. It has brought me so much joy to spend so much intentional time with her AND, I am acutely aware of how important it is that I maintain (and improve) my own health.
Now that Harmony is in daycare, I've been getting back to the gym, but I also need to care for myself in all the wellness ways I talk about here-mentally, spiritually, creatively, and more. Once again, I'm giving myself grace as I figure things out.
I'm not a mantra girlie, but lately I've been saying to myself:
Jordan, you have to start pouring into yourself.
So, here I am- trying. stumbling. trying again.
