ISSUE #24 | November 17, 2025

Hi, it's Miriam.

Welcome back to the At Work Tune Up, your insider’s playbook with practical, quick, tips on how to improve your team dynamics and keep things happy and healthy at work.

We spend a lot of time at work. We should love what we do.

Let's get started.
This week's tip for your toolbox:

Trust the Discernment on Your Team:
When your instincts know before your spreadsheet does

Honk if you've been in a meeting where your team gets stuck in endless discussion, rehashing the same ideas, rearranging the same data, and waiting for “just a little more information.”

Healthy teams do something different: they trust their team's discernment - the ability to sense what’s strong, what’s weak, and what’s worth moving forward.

Discernment isn’t guessing. It’s the instinct to look at patterns and have a strong sense of how to move forward.

How to make it happen

🛠 Try this in your next meeting:

After brainstorming, pause and ask: “Which option feels right?”
Invite instinctive reactions, not just analytical ones. Your team knows more than they think.
Capture the top 2–3 ideas that have energy behind them.
NOW is the time to ask for reasons or data to back up that instinct.

Bonus Points: If you've taken the Working Genius assessment, and you know who on your team has the genius of Discernment, this is their moment to shine. Ask them for their gut instinct on how to move forward.

✅ This week’s challenge:
Pick one upcoming decision and use discernment first instead of data last.

Say to your team: “Let’s start with what feels like the right move. Then we’ll check the facts.”

Watch how much faster and clearer the decision becomes.

Try it. Let me know how it goes.

Small changes make a big difference.

Just get started.
