NASHVILLE, Tenn. (November 18th, 2025) - The family and creative community of late Nashville songwriter and producer Chad Sellers (1978–2023) will honor his legacy with the release of “If I Were The Wind,” a heartfelt new single arriving on January 9th, 2026, ahead of the forthcoming tribute project to follow. The single represents the final vocal Sellers began before his passing, completed in a deeply personal collaboration with his eldest son, Gavin.
“If I Were The Wind” was one of the most introspective songs Sellers wrote in the final months of his life. Co-written with rising Texas Country artist William Beckmann, the track lives in the vulnerable space where folk-Americana meets unguarded honesty. Early recordings captured Sellers’ quiet, tender desire to be a gentle, steady force for the one you love, “like the wind… whisperin’ your sweet name through the trees.”
Sellers left behind scratch vocals and fragments of lyrics that felt too personal for anyone else to finish—until Gavin, a lifelong runner like his father and now a student-athlete at Lewis & Clark College, stepped forward to complete the performance. Though he had never been in a recording studio, Gavin delivered a natural, emotionally resonant vocal that echoes Chad’s tone so closely it feels woven from the same thread. With producer Adam Sickler guiding the process, Gavin completed the track not as a replacement but as a continuation of the voice his father left behind.
Released ahead of the upcoming single, “Bird On A Wire” offered the first glimpse into the deeply personal creative space Chad Sellers was entering in his final year. Rooted in folk-Americana warmth and poetic vulnerability, the track reflects on balancing hope, fear, and the delicate act of holding on while learning to let go.

Sellers, born in Des Moines, Iowa, built a life defined by creativity, generosity, and relentless drive. A former sponsored marathoner, entrepreneur, English major, and published poet, he began his songwriting career in 2018 after moving to Nashville with his family. He quickly became a trusted collaborator in Music City, developing a reputation for sharp lyricism and soulful storytelling. His credits spanned Contemporary Country, Texas Country, Americana, Pop, and Christian music, with cuts from artists including Don Louis, Bryan Ruby, Derek Johnson, Xavier Joseph, Neil Cooper, Anderson Daniels, Shellem Cline, Dan Harrison, Cassandra, Steel Ivory, Antonio Moraes, and others.
Before his passing in August 2023 at age 44, Sellers had begun shaping his debut EP, a folk-Americana collection exploring love, struggle, loss, and the quiet questions he carried. In the wake of tragedy, his family and Nashville collaborators came together to finish the project he didn’t get to complete.
Chad Sellers is remembered for the countless lives he touched through mentorship, community leadership, and a remarkable ability to lift others.
