The Solidarity Scoop 📰
Monthly updates from the border + beyond
Showing up, building trust, and starting the year strong
January set the tone for the year ahead. It was a month of steady presence, real progress, and deepening partnerships across every place we work. From shelter support and sanitation systems to women’s health, play spaces, and refugee infrastructure, this month reflected what Solidarity looks like in action.

Here’s what your support made possible in January:

🚰WASH + Shelter
🇲🇽 Tapachula, Mexico: Our Project Manager, Dison, continued weekly deliveries of hygiene and sanitation supplies to partner shelters, including hygiene kits, bleach, soap, towels, and bottled water. This consistency protects health and builds trust through a reliable, long-term partnership.

🇺🇦 Ukraine: At Phoenix House, January included holiday activities and deliveries of hygiene supplies, including kitty litter! The shelter continues to reunite families with their pets as part of their reunification and healing efforts.

🇯🇴 Jordan: In Zaatari Refugee Camp, Solidarity completed a full renovation of patient bathrooms at the Women and Girls Comprehensive Center. The upgraded spaces now include accessible toilets, sinks, improved lighting, emergency alarms, and secure locks, directly improving safety, dignity, and daily life for women and girls.

🌸Women's health + safety
Our Women’s Health Promoter, Karely, has been busy expanding programming on both sides of the US-Mexico border:
  • Edinburg, Texas: Community distributions of diapers, maternity kits, education kits, and water
  • Escuela La Cruz, Reynosa: Health and hygiene education workshops

  • In Reynosa, construction continues on the new community playground and park space designed by Cas Holman. The drainage channel is complete, and our team has started building the next play feature: a mud kitchen!
  • STEM classes launched at Colegio La Cruz and in Ukraine

🤍 Our Team
Staff from across regions gathered in Reynosa to reflect on 2025, share our project successes and challenges, and plan for 2026. This time together strengthens coordination, trust, and long-term impact across programs and countries.

Looking Ahead
As 2026 begins, our focus remains steady and clear. We are building systems that protect health, creating spaces that support dignity, and working alongside communities navigating crisis and instability. We do this through consistency, partnership, and trust.

This year also marks a new chapter of growth for Solidarity Engineering. In the coming months, we will be expanding our Board of Directors as we strengthen our long-term vision, governance, and sustainability. More to share soon.

Thank you for being part of this work and for making this month possible.

With gratitude,
The Solidarity Engineering Team
P.S. Stay tuned for our 2025 Annual Report!
