When we first launched poolpartymag.com, our goal was to get something live that was functional, interesting, and communicated something about our ethos and aesthetic while we brainstormed a design that really encapsulated our vision for the project.

We are so happy to announce the launch of the new site—designed by Ryan-Ashley & dev'd/coded by Kevin—which features an added “News + Notes” designed to operate a bit like a short-form blog news feed. Why? Because we are trying to get further from the social media cesspool and closer to creating a real, intimate literary community that is engaged not because the algorithm decided to spit something from Pool Party into someone’s feed, but because we keep publishing content and sharing news that is compelling enough to return to the site on one’s own accord. Not compelling enough? We’re always open to ideas for making Pool Party better!

Kevin has navigated the book publishing industry many times as an author, first as a writer pitching to presses himself, and now as an agented author. He has three books out in the world and has experienced multiple different publishing approaches. He understands what is required to produce a successful book launch, tour, and knows the ins-and-outs of working with book stores and distributors to get the most sales out of a launch.
Ryan-Ashley’s background as a creative director involved graphic design (and managing teams of designers), copywriting, publication layout, campaign strategy, and public relations. Her project management and production skills as well as experience navigating the PR landscape makes her a great person to have on your publishing team. Plus, she has a background in artist management and understands the nuances of working one-on-one with someone to bring their work to life and to the world.
