Hope Can't Take A Holiday

This Holiday season, WOKC has launched the Hope Challenge. For families battling a pediatric cancer diagnosis, the holidays are not filled with planning meals, getting together with family, and writing letters to Santa. They are filled with the stress and worry that comes with having a critically ill child. For a third of those DFW families, the added stress of living at or below the poverty line only adds to the misery. You can help by giving generously today. We can't let hope take a holiday. WOKC Award for Going Above and Beyond for Our Mission: Lisa Esparza at AutoNation

We presented the award to Lisa Esparza who serves as the EVP, Chief Human Resources Officer at AutoNation. Under Lisa's leadership, AutoNation has continued to be an incredible partner to WOKC. The theme of the WOKC year-end Giving Campaign is Hope Can't Take A Holiday. It's a catchy phrase, but make no mistake about it - we need to come together and ensure it is a reality. Having hope is paramount to overcoming a difficult situation...and a child with cancer is among the hardest challenges any family can face. The WOKC Buddy Bag and Family Programs are designed to provide comfort and hope. If you and your family are blessed with good health this holiday season, I encourage you to join our team and ensure hope doesn't take a holiday for those who don't share that blessing.

On December 3, WOKC CEO Kris Cumnock began a 24-hour fast in an effort to create awareness that one-third of the families in DFW who have a child with cancer have food insecurity. WOKC's efforts to support these families are critically important, and we could use your help.

On Saturday, December 6, Dallas Children's Charities provided over 100 new toys to WOKC. The toys are collected each year by DCC at the Margarita Ball. WOKC uses these toys to stock the Celebration Closet, where DFW kids with cancer can select gifts for themselves and their siblings year-round. WOKC appreciates the work of DCC and their volunteers - they make sick kids smile!
