You made Giving Tuesday unforgettable! 🙌 When we set our goal to save 20 cats, we never imagined the incredible response from our community of cat lovers. Thanks to your generosity, we raised enough to cover the intake 96 cats—that’s 96 lives transformed! 🐱✨
Each intake costs $375, covering deworming, defleaing, vaccines, and a spay or neuter. Your support means these cats now have warmth, care, and a second chance. 💕
Nami’s Story – From the Streets to Safety
Meet Nami, a 10-year-old Siamese cat who survived the scorching heat ☀️ and bitter cold ❄️ on the streets of New York. Mostly blind, with one empty eye socket, Nami lived among other cats—likely her own offspring.
Her life changed when a Canadian student studying in New York fell in love with her. When it was time to return to Canada, the student couldn’t leave Nami behind. During a vet visit for travel vaccines, they discovered Nami was pregnant! 🐾
That’s when VOKRA’s Last Litter Program stepped in. Nami moved into a foster home and gave birth just a week later – right in her foster mom's bed! 🛏️ She delivered five big, healthy kittens and proved to be an incredible mother, fiercely protective and determined to choose her own nesting spot.
When her kittens were weaned at eight weeks, Nami was spayed by Dr. Gill at Tynehead Animal Hospital, one of our amazing partner vets. During surgery, her eye socket was cleaned and sewn shut, ending months of discomfort.
Today, Nami is back with her loving guardian—and one of her kittens—living the life she deserves. 🏡💖
Our first since 2018, on January 3rd we are holding an event for our volunteers and staff to meet in person, socialize and feel appreciated. We’ve been absolutely blown away—not only by your generosity in donating to make this celebration possible—but also by the heartfelt messages of appreciation you sent along with your gifts. 💌 Your words mean the world to our volunteers and staff who dedicate countless hours to saving lives.
