Shelby's Top Christmas Movies 🎄🎞️

I will watch any type of Christmas movie - traditional, claymation, modern, Lifetime and Hallmark. Give me a cheesy storyline with a feel good message. Or a dysfunctional family with pure chaos, only to realize that because they have each other everything will be just fine. There's just something about a Christmas movie. Maybe it's the way everything always ties up neatly at the end, unlike life sometimes. Maybe it's the scenery and idea of snow falling and crackling fire, surrounded by loved ones when you can't be near the ones you love. Whatever it is, they fill my heart with cheer.

If you're looking for something to watch, look no further than my Christmas movie list. I'm sure you'll find something to enjoy, whatever your heart desires.

Happy watching!

Classics
Christmas Vacation
01
Nothing says Christmas quite like “Christmas Vacation," to me. Most years, I end up watching this multiple times. Dysfunctional family visits, decorating madness, job frustrations and Christmas cheer. This has it all. So many ridiculous scenarios and Clark Griswold bringing plenty of shocking moments and laughter. My parents and I quote this movie. ALL. THE. TIME. John Hughes at his best!
The Santa Clause
02
Tim Allen IS Santa Claus. 90s kids know that he set the bar for Santa Claus. It's just a feel good family movie. Scott Calvin, kind of, kills Santa and becomes him. Next thing he knows he's transported to the North Pole to go through the process to take over. Meanwhile, everyone in SC's real life thinks he's lost it. A great story about childlike faith and believing in the magic of the season.
The Family Stone
03
This is one I found some years ago now. And I just adored it. Incredible cast of characters for a dysfunctional family get together at the parents' home. As they often do, the siblings hold secrets and angst for their own reasons and other family revelations are revealed as they often are around Christmastime. It's sad and will be even more heartbreaking with Diane Keaton's passing, but still love it.
Home Alone
04
Home Alone was one I'd seen bits and pieces of growing up, but never got into it until later in life. It's epic! I mean, really, it's pure ridiculousness but Kevin McCallister carries the movie with his antics. A dysfunctional family who leaves Kevin behind? A house to himself, where he has to fend off bad guys and figure out how to survive? Only the genius of John Hughes!
I'll Be Home for Christmas
05
Every teenage girl's dream in the 90s, right? A Christmas with JTT? JTT is Jake, a college student, whose dad wants him home for Christmas. Jake is a tad selfish and tries to get Ally (Jessica Biel) to go on a tropical vacation with him. His dad says if he can make it home by 6 p.m. on Christmas Eve, he'll give him the Porsche. Suddenly, he's in a race against time, going on a wild adventure - dressing as Santa and meeting interesting characters along the way. It's so cheesy and ridiculous and one of those movies I'll quote throughout the year.
