AN INTIMATE TRACK THAT CLOSES OUT A YEAR
OF GROWTH AND SETS THE TONE FOR 2026
MAYNE MARKS THE RELEASE WITH AN INVITE-ONLY
TORONTO EVENT ON DECEMBER 20
December 19, 2025 (Toronto, ON) — Canadian country artist Kelsi Mayne closes out the year with “For The Record,” a deeply personal single that unpacks one of the most complicated chapters of her life. The song traces the whirlwind romance that followed her broken engagement, the heartbreak that came with it and the clarity she found in the aftermath of it all.

Just a few months after calling off her wedding, Mayne met someone new. What began as an unexpected spark quickly became a reluctantly fast-moving relationship filled with big promises, poetic words and a sense of fate she wasn’t ready for but desperately wanted to believe in. As the connection deepened, Mayne learned that her new partner was battling a serious addiction to alcohol, a truth that unravelled their seemingly perfect story. Determined to support his journey, she did everything she could before resorting to stepping back so he could get sober for himself. He did, but he also found someone new in the process.

“This song came from a place I never expected to be in again,” says Mayne. “I walked into something that felt safe and fated and it ended up breaking me in ways I didn’t see coming. Writing this helped me make sense of it all — the heartbreak, the confusion and the lessons I didn’t want but probably needed. If nothing else, at least it was good for the record.”

Mixed and mastered by Scott Cooke (Local Hay Records/Big Loud Records), “For The Record” blends heartfelt storytelling with subtle references to the walls of Jericho and Fleetwood Mac’s “Silver Springs,” grounding a personal heartbreak in timeless symbols of truth, collapse and closure. These references found their way into the song naturally as Mayne tried to make sense of what happened, giving a nod to the stories and music that came before hers. The result is a track that feels honest, familiar and grounded in real emotion.

The single closes out a year of growth for Mayne, building on the momentum of “Someone Who Knows” and the run of releases that shaped one of her strongest years yet. With “For The Record,” she ends 2025 on a high note, stepping into 2026 with a new album on the way and a live show that continues to ignite crowds across the country.
