The future is bright
And the best is yet to come!

The mom wanted to find a place for her son to spend his summer days, a local camp that would keep him engaged and make him feel welcome. She wanted a place that would support him and provide social experiences that would help her child succeed in the future.

The mom discovered the Youth Centers of Orange Summer Camp, an exciting and activity-filled camp designed to nurture young minds and create lasting memories. At last summer’s camp, kids visited the beach, attended an Angels baseball game, pet a snake, made pickles at the OHG Education Farm and so much more.

“Thank you for keeping him safe, engaged and feeling included and cared for,” the mom wrote in a note to the Youth Centers of Orange. “You all are so appreciated.”

According to Joanna Fermin, director of operations, the Youth Centers of Orange provides safe spaces for kids who otherwise would be left home alone, especially during the summer. The nine-week Summer Camp is for kids K-6th grade and there is a camp for teens 7th-10th grade.

The Youth Centers of Orange is currently in the planning stages for next summer’s camp and working to secure scholarships so more young kids can experience the camaraderie that the camp offers.

The Youth Center engages parents as well, keeping them informed about their child’s progress and achievements in all their programs, ensuring that each young person has a chance to develop the skills they need for a brighter future.

More than 100 backpacks, stuffed with heavy winter jackets, warm gloves, rain ponchos and hand warmers, were distributed to the patrons on Christmas Eve at the Hub Resource Center. Dozens of volunteers spread holiday cheer by serving meals, hot chocolate and coffee, while kids made cards for the patrons. It was truly a warm and welcoming time.

Full Circle Marketplace Update: Last month was full of holiday cheer! We celebrated Hallmark Thriftmas Weekend, ran our 7th Dollar Sale, and gave away free clothing at a pop-up for Palmyra Elementary School. Our team also refreshed the sales floor with seasonal styles and organized our basement and storage areas for the new year. Thank you to everyone who shopped, volunteered, and helped make the month a success. Every purchase continues to support the programs at The Hub OC!

Over the past few months, the Hub Community Center has connected with new families to better understand the types of programs that will help them provide a brighter future for their families. Based on similar findings, the Center has provided tutoring and learning programs, offering personalized and collaborative learning opportunities, as well as sewing and cooking classes, sports programming and other services that build creative and practical life skills.
