Welcome to our December newsletter

With festivities in full swing and questionable jumpers enjoying their annual outing, we take a brief look at some of Nova’s highlights in 2025.

Our adult classes supported people not only to acquire essential skills but to build trust in their own ability to handle life’s challenges. Trips to Parliament, theatres and museums took learning beyond the classroom, exploring what London has to offer.

As our IAG advisers worked alongside people seeking help with complex challenges, from poverty and insecure housing to mental health issues, they also kept focused on nurturing possibilities, working with local partners to deliver sessions on entrepreneurship, interview skills and mapping out future paths.

Some of our young people expressed themselves in the rarified field of royal fashion through the groundbreaking Dress Codes exhibition with Historic Royal Palaces. Nova’s Youth Voice Group discovered their burgeoning power with their local environment project, training with journalists and public speakers, bringing together a wide range of local and global views and pulling it all together through reports, podcasts and a soon-to-be-launched documentary (watch this space!).

Our social change work continued to bring people with different backgrounds and perspectives together to build empathy and understanding in our School of Humanity. We also held heartfelt events to remember Grenfell in two very different settings: by our offices under the busy Westway and on the green lawns of Kensington Palace.

We were delighted that our work was recognised with a Mayor’s Award and, for the second year running, with awards from Young K&C.

An auction fundraiser ended the year, with glasses raised and bids raised even higher thanks to some fantastic donated prizes: from artworks to unique experiences including dinner parties at home by top chef Angela Hartnett. We heard moving speeches from Doug Gurr, Director of the Natural History Museum, as well as from our Nova Ambassadors who shared their stories and dreams for the future in an evening celebrating generosity and new friendships.

These uplifting moments of positivity and success have powered us on through what has been a challenging year. We hold them close as we look forward to 2026.

We wish you all a safe, warm and joyful festive season,

The Nova Team 🧡
